My relationship with God is very personal.

I don't go to mass, I was raised Roman Catholic but I relate more to the Anglican Communion. I cut out the "middle man" and pray to God directly. I pray with the saints rather than to them.

Usually it's just thanking Him for all that I have or asking for His help and guidance. I could be in bed, out for a walk or in work but God is always with me.

    God bless.

As I started this thread I should probably state my own opinions.

Personally, I have always thought that the best way to give glory to God is to follow His commandments.

Just like any other public image marketing; be a true representative of the product you are selling. If you work in a clothing shop, always wear the clothes; if you sell books, read them; if you are a Christian, consistently act the way you tell people they ought to be acting.

If your clothing is ill-fitting and falling apart, if the advice and concepts you expose yourself through your reading are dangerous and upsetting, if you find it impossible to live the Christian life you are advocating, you might want to think about the products you're representing and whether they are genuine, safe, and fit for purpose, and whether you're using and maintaining them properly.

I'd agree. But in order to follow his commandments you need communion with God - his indwelling such that you are empowered to follow his commandments. The egg before the chicken, as it were.

I'd suppose then, the way to give glory to God is to do that which would encourage his indwelling. Adopting humility, patience, trust and all the other things suggested/commanded we do such as to permit that.

The commandment-following (in the sense of living as we ought) will follow.

Be that lighted candle. Shine out against oppression and darkness, wherever you encounter them.

Bear the fruits of the spirit: be patient, kind, gentle, loving, forgiving, humble, tolerant, service oriented. Endeavour every day, with all your might, to be the best possible version of your self but be ready to forgive yourself when you fail and never use failure as an excuse to stop trying. In all things, give thanks - even on your worst days, remember that pain blinds and makes all things seem dark but faith can pierce through the darkness, trust in the goodness, wisdom, and power of the Father, never doubting His love. Such a path is not easy but it is, without question, the most rewarding and ennobling of ways to live. This is a great way to give glory to God.
