Issues with programmer and combi boiler

I've just moved into a house that has a baxi combi boiler and a horstmann 3 channel programmer. I can't for the life of me get the 2 of them to work together. The boiler seems to only be able to go off or on. Am I right in saying that when the boilers on, it should only heat whenever the timer or thermostats call for it? I've set up the programmer to heat water in the early morning for the shower, but whenever I have the boiler on it just seems to heat continuously, even when no heat is needed. Am I missing something or is there an issue with the programmer?

Do you have a Hot Water Cylinder?
The Combi Gas boiler only heats Hot Water ''On Demand''. There is no programming required to have hot water at any time.
Turn on the tap, Boiler comes on and heats the water, turn off the tap, the Boiler stops.

It doesn't seem to kick in at all when the tap is running, when the boiler is switched to rads and water it heats the water alright, getting it to stop and work with the timer is the problem.

To answer your other question, there is an electric immersion tank upstairs and the programmer has a timer for water so I presumed these were linked?

Are you sure then that it is a ''Combi'' Gas Boiler, it would be unusual for a Combi to be fitted with a Hot Water Cylinder.
What is the make and model of the Boiler?

If it is a combi boiler my bet that it is wired wrong .
Sounds like no permanent live at the boiler
You will need to get an rgi out to rewrite it correctly if this is the case

It's a baxi 80e from what I can see, definitely a combi. Layout of this house is very strange so I wouldn't put it past it. It has a combi boiler downstairs and an electric immersion upstairs with no timer. Currently trying to chase the landlord to get someone in to look at it, just wanted to see if it's anything simple that I'm missing that i could sort myself

Could you post a picture of the programmer and the copper cylinder?

That's not a combo boiler it's a standard boiler with a hot water cylinder.
The front panel of the boiler will have a pic of a tap and a pic of a tap& radiator at the control knob put it to tap & rad as the other does nothing.
You need to check the thermostat on the side of the hot water cylinder make sure it's at 60
    Then try it
