Peugeot 407 DPF additive pump

Hi all, I am looking for advice about my peugeot 407 1.6 hdi 2004. I bought this car recently with my mechanics approval. But now after further review the dpf additive isn't pumping into the diesel and I need a new reservoir.

It started off as a minor job but it's now looking like it could cost 500 to sort. The engine light is on and depollution system faulty appears on the screen when started.

I can't find anything online about this pump which apparently is built into the reservoir so the whole thing has to be replaced. I can't even find the part anywhere. They are getting it from a Peugeot main dealer.

Has anyone else had this issue or know more about it?

    Any help would be appreciated.

This needs the exact fault codes read from the system with a suitable scan tool before proceeding with additive module issues. One mistake some people make is to refill the tank when empty without realising that a) the ECU has to be told that the system has ben refilled and b) the system has to be primed once the pipework is disturbed. Both tasks require the necessary scan tool. I've never heard of one of those additive modules failing but that's not to say yours isn't faulty either OP. Can you post up the fault codes, preferably generated by a high end or Peugeot specific scan tool. A basic scan tool may give one or two codes but the correct tool will give manufacture specific ones that the basic tools won't

thanks for the reply, that is helpful. I don't have the codes it was my mechanic that tole me I needed a new reservoir. I got one 2nd hand waiting to get it fitted. The car is driving perfect. The tank in the car is full already so I am going to reuse that additive. Hopefully this sorts it.

Having the same issue, and opting to get the DPF deleted.

This will cause issues in the future with the NCT.

Do they actually test diesel emissions in northern Ireland ie smoke test?

Don't think they used to, up to recent years anyway..

Nope, no emissions test for diesels up here.

we have an emissions test down here, I got the light off with new mechanic yesterday but it has since come back on. The car drives like a dream so I have no idea what it is :/

Is this after having the the replacement tank/pump fitted?

Difficult to say what the problem is without having a bit more information, exact fault code or codes etc.

If it's saying the fluid level is low the system needs to be "told" it has been refilled. There's no level sensor, it calculates the the remaining fluid using a combination of mileage, fuel used etc.

If you find yourself in the Clonmel/ Carrick on Suir area I would be happy to take a look at it for you.

That was without the tank replacement, Im not sure what he did with it to get it off but it did stay off for a day. I don't know what the code is. It was just saying depollution system faulty.

I know the tank is 3/4 full so I don't think it has been refilled lately. I only bought the car over a month ago. My mechanic checked it out and said the pump wouldn't be an issue and he would get a new one for like E15 but then after I bought it and brought it back, He is looking for 511 to replace with a new tank and refill! He said he was unaware the pump couldn't be replaced on its own :/

As you can imagine I'm not very happy about it I did manage to find a 2nd hand tank for 50 from a breakers in Dublin. But the last mechanic didn't need it to get the light off.

I wouldn't be anywhere near the Tipperary area

If the light is back on again, it'll need the ECU read to see what error(s) have been found.

Also. do you know if the system was primed after the tank was replaced? A scan tool is needed for this and if it wasn't primed, it might well be this that has put the light back on.

There's no point in erasing codes (turning off the light) unless the cause has been remedied.

If you get the codes read and post them here someone may be able to help otherwise it's just guesswork.
