    You happy with it ????

I also have that exact same set, bought from Amazon.
    Im sending it back.
It disconnects at randoms intervals for anything up to 5 mins.
Googling it it looks like thats a common fault with this kit.
Seems to kick in anything up to 6 months after you buy them and then stays.
I think thats why these are reduced. They are getting rid of the stock.
Drop tplink an email before you buy them to confirm that issue.

No issues so far, but as I say it's been only two weeks since I bought them. Getting around 40MB/s when transferring files, consistently. No random drops, performance is rock solid.

Yes. Getting around 10MB/s of sustainable transfer rate between the endpoints on two ends of the house. It is faster than FastEthernet - without having to put a single piece of cable.

Very impressed I have the "AV500 Powerline Adapter with AC Pass Through" and I use it for online gaming at the other end of a long apartment.

Guys, can anyone confirm how many 1Gb ports are on these? the Argos pics for both models seems to be the same one.
The descrption of this one - http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/4266644/Trail/searchtext%3ETPLINK.htm states 1GB Ports, so I'm wondering if the pic is wrong?

    thanks in advance.

the one from your link has 1x port

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 302 ✭✭kao123

Yep, but the description says 1Gb Ports so I'm wondering if Argos are just using a stock photo?
They list another set which is more more expensive and the photo looks the same - http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5493351/Trail/searchtext%3ETP-LINK.htm

    thanks in advance

That's a very good result that most users in Ireland unfortunately won't be able to achieve, depending on the quality of the electrical wiring at their homes. I own the AV1000 and I'm getting 20MB/s. Still, happy with the unit, does the job much better than a repeater.

One port on each of two units. Total - two 1Gbps ports.

Offering 1.2Gb/s from a 1Gb/s interface beats me!

Yep... and was cheaper than Argos due to sterling exchange rate (€42.73)

I'd have jumped on these myself if I didn't already have the 500Mb ones though.

Have one reserved in Argos. What's the consensus please ???? Should I go ahead ??? Just need to boost to kids bedrooms upstairs, but am little reluctant given previous posts about faults. Thanks

The 1Gb/s LAN port is duplex and the 1.2Gb/s connection between units is half-duplex.

Judging by all the positive reviews on Amazon and my own positive review about the 500Mb version I'd say go for it.

No wires around the house and I have 5 of these plugged in various rooms. Never once had a problem with connection or speed.

This might be of use to anyone who missed out on the AV1200

Went to Argos and looked . This is more suited to someone wh has wired items and devices to connect eg Xbox, smart tv, PC etc. With Ethernet cable. Doesn't seem to have wifi. I just need for kids iPads upstairs so I just need a wifi extender thingy. So Argos reservation code there for someone if they wAnt.

Them WiFi extenders don't tend to work well from experience - why not look at the model that comes with WiFi on the plug?

Also has 2 Ethernet ports, I have one in my kitchen, and one upstairs :

Not sure if Argos stock that one, should do...

The 1Gb/s LAN port is duplex and the 1.2Gb/s connection between units is half-duplex.

So 0.6Gb/s each direction in half_duplex?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 798 ✭✭✭FobleAsNuck

    no, 1.2 half duplex :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,755 ✭✭✭degsie

    no, 1.2 half duplex :D

This is why I distrust marketing.

Get yourselves to a big Tesco. They are getting rid of the BT Extender 500 (homeplugs) for €36 and the BT Mini Wi-Fi extender for €16 (priced as €43 but scans at €16).
I plugged the Extender into my desktop and get a steady 76Mbps compared to the 25Mbps on the home Wi-Fi.
Have 4 now setup around the weak spots in the house used by my kids for the Xbox's and PCs.
