Hi there just looking for advice on buying a new car, I'm fairly green at the whole thing but have a bit of research done. I'm fairly set on buying a vw golf. I'm 22 but have a good paying job and have no real financial commitments. I've 12k in cash saved up and was orginally planning on buying maybe a 10 or 11 golf but have changed my mind and are now thinking of buying a brand new vw golf highline,I'm not sure wether to go for the 1.6 110bhp or the 2.0 150 bhp? Im aware of the pluses and cons of pcp, but do people think that vw will continue there 0% APR for much longer? Is 30% the maximum deposit you can pay? And would I be better waiting till say maybe next January to buy it?

I picked up my highline 1.6d 2wks ago, first vw for me after 4 volvos. It's a super car and I have 0 complaints. Great spec and finish. Obviously the 2.0 would have better pick up, but the 1.6 is very well adequate for me and a few grand cheaper. I also got the 0% and squeezed 3 free services outta them.
There's probably a facelift/mk8 end of next year. It's up to you if you want to wait till the new yr, if you order a factory build it'll be 8-12weeks before delivery anyway.

The 1.6 is surprisingly fine to drive. I'd go for the 2.0 if possible but it's not a bad engine.

The current Golf Highline is very well equipped but with the facelift due in October now maybe the time to get one as I cannot imagine the facelifted model will continue with the current level of standard equipment. Also if you can afford the 2.0 litre then that's the one I'd go for.

If you're not doing big miles the 1.4tsi has got to be in with a shout. About the same price as the 1.6 diesel and similar performance to the 2 litre.

So the new facelift model will come with a lower spec standard? At the the moment I'm doing roughly a 100miles a day Monday to Friday so I think I'd be better off with a tdi over a tsi, also I know that I will be well over my mileage limit on pcp but plan to buy out the car at the end of the three years so that isn't really a problem

Nobody knows yet as to the spec of the facelifted model because nothing has been officially announced, ask a dealer and they will probably deny a facelift is coming. Normally they spec an outgoing model a bit higher to make them more appealing. The current Highline has just got full leather interior as standard and I'd imagine the facelifted model Highline to possibly lose the leather interior while maybe gaining things like led headlights and virtual dashboard. In saying that don't expect huge changes to the Golf as VW play it very safe with the Golf.
