2004 VW Caddy - key for roof bars

    Hi all.

Looking to take off the roof bars from a Caddy van, 2004 old model.

As you might guess, i didn't get any keys for it from the last owner when I bought it. When I asked, he said he hadn't got any for it. It's being through a few pairs of hands before I bought it so probably someone else held onto them.

I've put up a pic of them here. There's no number on the lock face so that I could get a key cut for it.

Would I have to get a locksmith to open it or should I try a scrapyard and hope maybe I might find a key.

Obviously I want to keep the roof bars so that I can use them again when I need them.

    All advice welcome.:D

Not sure about breakers etc I'm sure if you have the vin number vw dealer would be able to order a set.

Worth a phonecall to one and see what they say.

I'd like to avoid a main dealer unless there's no other alternative.

Might try a few breaker's yards and see what happens.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.:)

Why? Keys should be cheap. Worth a phone call before trying breakers.

Can you not just take the "feet" off the top of the van and lift the whole roof bar off, or can you not see the bolts to take the "feet" off, without removing the bar?
