Hailo question

Is there any way to find out exactly how much you will charged?

I've prebooked a Hailo cab for this weekend. The distance is 15Km and the trip is at night so the time is usually 30mins.

If you want to know exactly how much it's gong to cost, ring your local hackney service and agree the fare in advance, most of them have a set fare from their service area to the airport for example. Taxis go by the meter, the main variable with a prearranged route is the time it takes which can depend on traffic levels.

Posts split out to a new thread.

OP - I just look a look at my Hailo app, and it doesn't seem that it has an estimate function. That's a pity because IIRC, I think Uber does have one.

Yes that's exactly what I expected.

I can get a quote from any taxi/hackney myself.

Hailo did not tell me either who the company was.

For all I know I could get into the cab and he could ask for 60 euro.

What do you expect? All the Hailo cars are independently operated taxis and they charge based on what's on the meter as required by the regulator.

Since Hailo use taxis you can calculate the fare here

    https://www.transportforireland.ie/taxi/taxi-fare-estimator/

If you think you have been over charged by the taxi you report them here

You are supposed to be given one by default but just in case ask for (and if necessary, insist on) a receipt.

It should have all the necessary details if you want to complain - License#, reg#, recept#, fare €, total €, tips tolls discounts €, extras €, date, start time, end time and distance travelled.
Fare should be as displayed on the meter. Difference should be explained in writing on receipt.
Tariff card available online - google it!

It is not rocket science and same regulation and rates applies to all licensed taxis!

This doesn't tell me what fare to expect before I get into the car!

A receipt comes after the trip.

    Did you miss this one?

I'm not sure about this extra charge, mind you - is this even legal?

You must have missed the part where I pointed you to the fares "Tariff card available online - google it!"

Since the fare is dependent on time of journey, date of journey, distance from pick up to drop off, number of passengers, speed of travel during journey, hiring method and possibly more - I thought it best to let you do figure out the exact details.

My apologies if I inconvenienced you in any way!

Have you tried phoning your local hackney company?

That's one hell of a slow trip at night. What's the route ?
