Google maps on my phone - journey time

So, this is probably a silly question but...

I go onto Google maps on my phone and pick a journey and 3 options show up on the map (traffic set to on) -

1 is "fastest route, despite the usual traffic" and the other 2 are "the usual traffic".

Is this a live estimate based on current traffic conditions or an estimate by Google based on "usual" traffic at this day and time?

To me, the first one, "fastest route, despite the usual traffic" could be interpreted in different ways but maybe I'm being thick.

    Thanks

If you use the journey time based on leaving now, it's based on current conditions, and it's pretty accurate. If you used the leave at/arrive by option it will calculate your journey based on historical journey times for that particular time of day.

The Fastest Route, despite usual traffic will check alternative routes and will tell you it's still the fastest despite usual traffic/x minutes of delays along this route.
