Wonder who Ambrose will defend the title against? Presumably Styles, Cena, Wyatt will be busy with other matches. Del Rio seems like last legitimate contender he could face

Every chance there'll be a cross-brand match with Rollins or Reigns.

Hardly when they had a clean finish

Makes a joke of the brand split if they immediately start doing cross brand matches just because

Really think the main title is staying on Smackdown for long?

I'd have thought it's there to help legitimize the brand, and give Raw the new title whatever it is

Same as was done in 2002 with Lesnar/HHH

Who now for Reigns I wonder?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,135 ✭✭✭correction

Can't really see any possible contender for Ambrose at SummerSlam other than Bray which I'm not particularly interested in but the rest of the card is shaping up to be strong enough to carry a bland title match. RAW's main event (won't spoil anything), Cena vs. Styles (presumably) and Lesnar vs. Orton are all matches that could be great that I'm really interested in so I can live with Ambrose vs. Wyatt.

Del Rio is a possibility and I actually would prefer that but with talk of him leaving soon and being buried in general I can't see a sudden push like that.

I think it will be ambrose vs AJ vs cena and possibly bray as well as the smackdown main event

He's outta of the title picture lost clean two nights in a row so the Superman persona has faded a little. Putting him in a feud where the fans can get behind him might help, against someone like Sheamus.

Unless WWE have lost faith in him.

He needs to go heel though. Zayn seems a good choice IMO. He's the most face of the faces. Not that Reigns would need much to get heat.

Finn vs. Seth, to quote Good 'Ol J.R will be a slobberknocker.

Obviously these stories have yet to develop in the direction of Summerslam, but in terms of the card alone, with those 3 matches, the Orton v Lesnar and Sasha v Charlotte, that is a pretty epic looking card. Life after Roman.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,799 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

This card is looking absolutely unreal

Hopefully it's as good as or better than the best Summerslam, 2002. Such a well paced ppv, with very little filler, should be the template for all good ppvs minus Mania

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor for the WWE universal Championship

Dean Ambrose (c) vs Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Championship

Charlotte vs Sasha Banks (c) for the WWE Women’s Championship

Apollo Crews vs The Miz (c) for the Intercontinental Championship

    John Cena vs AJ Styles

    Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Thats a savage looking card, in fairness...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

Could be the best Summerslam ever, well one of the best...

Oh and just a reminder it has a special start time in America, 7 Eastern, 4 Pacific, so that'd be midnight our time.

Nothing worse than when they bring rappers on, the excitement is palpable for P Diddy next week. Prepare yourself for a Heath Slater segment.

Surprised Flo-Rida would show his face in WWE again after getting schooled by Bo Dallas in that rap battle they had.

This should be a fantastic card. I was somewhat underwhelmed by AJ / Cena at MITB, so I'm hoping this rematch really delivers.

This is gonna be a really long PPV with all the extra matches they've added. Definitely gonna run over the 3 hours.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,135 ✭✭✭correction

    It's 4 hours anyway isn't it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

Also Flo-Rida's show for the Thursday has been canned.

I'm worried...I just realized the next PPV is
the Raw branded "Clash of Champions". And knowing WWE, I worry they'll be looking at Reigns vs Rollins in a "Clash of Champions" match with the US vs Interstellar (shudder) Championship match, with Reigns walking out with both titles. Means I don't have much hope for the Summerslam matches ended favorably :(

Think you're grand without the spoiler tags for that one. I doubt they'll go down that direction to be honest. I see that rebuild being a slower one where they gear it towards Wrestlemania in what will become very quickly the most obvious thing ever and the fans will go nuts again when they finally pull the trigger on it.

I think it's weird that they've gone so big on the Reigns v Ambrose v Rollins stuff all year when you consider so many people were talking about that as the Wrestlemania main event from heaven for so long. Hard to see what they go with this year unless they do the Reigns v Cena match that they're obviously gumming to do.

    Big surprise return
    ........Punk......
    Rumors are starting.

Might make some sense if there is truth to the
cross promotion deal between the UFC & WWE he doesn't have to wrestle just a promo job on McGregor and there you have McGregor's opponent for WM both getting huge pay checks out of it.

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 25,390 Mod ✭✭✭✭Loughc

I can see zero percent chance of that happening to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,561 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

The Reigns thing can go one of 3 ways:
    1. Push him as quickly as they did last time and get the same result
    2. Keep putting him in PPV matches (sometimes for a title) onlt to lose to try and build some support for him before having him win a title
    3. Punish him for another while for ruining their plans for the big triple threat match they had been building to with all 3 Shield members
