    Hi guys,

I will start with the top.

Been working in my company since the start of the year as part of my contract Health was included as a BIK and i could sign up any time i wont for it.

I did not take health right as i had my own plan already that had been paid for on to may. So i signed up in May to the plan in work to start paying from June.

A years price works out 1250 with Laya Health.

But the company for the 7 months i am getting charged 1024 euros as my BIK. So works out 146.28 as my BIK so i am getting Tax on that so works out about 42 euros a month. I Don't know where they got the 7 months price to be 1024 as thats crazy money. I have spoke to Payroll 1st about it and they said this is right 7 months of heath is 1024 while 12 months is 1250 ?????. Maths don't seem to add up. So i have spoke to HR about it 3 times now. One guy never got back to me as you have to call the UK for HR ..... 2nd person screamed at me on the phone and said not his problem get on to payroll and i said Payroll told me to speak to you. 3rd person is the HR person in the office and she has now said this does not seem right this has took 6 weeks to get to this stage and she has blamed me for it taking so long.

Basically i am wondering what can i do about this ?. As i don't think i will get to the end of working out my proper tax. As i know its only 20 euros a month but at the end of the year thats 140 euros EG a weeks rent and when your working for it adds up.

1,250 is the cost NET of TRS (tax relief at source).

The actual gross cost of the policy is 1,250 / 80 x 100, which is 1,562.50.

This is what BIK applies to, and you separately claim your tax relief.

1,562.50 x 8/12 is 1,041.67 so it seems to me there's an extra month coming into play somewhere.

Then why is everyone else i am working with paying 102.40 a month ?. EG 22.50 as there BIK ?.

My partner is paying the same for theres in a different company well less 4.50 a week she is paying so 18 euros a month for her health BIK.

No the gross cost is 1228.80 a year this is the price i have got from Laya for 12 months of the plan on my years sign up.

So at 146.28 x 12 the company is charging me 1755.36. As you had to sign up for 12 months. Basically i am getting tax on 526.56 euros more for the 12 months then what i should be.

So Can i ask where are you getting your maths from ?.

@barneystinson - the figure mentioned by the OP was 1,024 and not 1,042.

@OP - You have quoted two figures for your policy....1,250 and 1,228.80.Which is it? Could you clarify please...and let us know the exact LAYA policy that you have.

It seems likely from what you've said that your employer has made an error but we'd need to find out the exact cost of the policy first. That they are probably in a group scheme might be relevant too.
