BMW 335D Query

    Hi folks,
I'm considering splashing out on a '10 BMW 335D Auto coupe from the UK.

On most of the vehicle classified websites they state that the 335D is 177g/km on CO2 emissions.

On the VRT calculator, depending on whether you select "D SE 2DR Auto" or "D SE 286bhp 02dr A", the emissions range from 164-200g/km.

My question is, how do I know which they'll set? It effects VRT % slightly and road tax fairly significantly (€750 / yr versus €1,200 / yr).

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Cheers.

as co2 are used in uk also, the seller will know the exact amout, get it and enter it in vrt website to get correct amount of tax..

I understand what you're saying, but is the Irish VRT system that logical?

If I buy it, and arrive back here, will the VRT office not just say "oh, 335D? Well, thats 200 g/km"? Do I have to dictate what the O2 emissions are?

The Co2 emissions are on the UK Registration document, and it's those are are used to calculate the VRT.

You can check the Co2 if you can see the reg - think Cartell.ie will give you that info for free.

A post July 2008 335D/635D is 750 per annum here, I don't get the confusion OP? You won't regret it btw, that engine has so much torque, it scares me on occasion. :)

Had no idea the tax was that high on them, is there a new lower co2 model of that engine out?

I don't think the tax on a 340i is that high even

Try to verify that the car is stock for that spec level and has no additions to factory spec, so if it's SE it should have all the SE features, any add ons from that will increase VRT calculation.

€750, high? That's about half what a pre 2008 model with would have cost.

The 340i engine is from a different generation of emission conscious engines though. I don't know what the 640D engine is to tax now but I'd imagine it's less. €750 is a lot compared to the super low stuff you can get these days but as Bazz mentioned, it's a small price to pay compared to what it could be on the old system.

My issue was that on the VRT calculator, some of the options for the 335D were 200g/km CO2, which would bump it up to the €1200 per year tax.

I used to have a 280bhp Evo, but it's the torque of the diesel that i'm looking forward to!

The torque never gets boring. I had a guy in a MKV GTI looking very confused the other day when we met again at the next set of lights. ;)

I was living abroad until last year so lost my no claims. I'm back up to 1 year no claims now. 32 year old male = €1,300 fully comp.
