07 Volvo S40 2.0D oil leak

I have a 2007 S40 2.0 diesel, have to say it's s great car, the other night when I was having a smoke outside I noticed oil was dripping from the engine tray cover. So I jacked it up & had a look & was happy it wasn't the crankshaft seal that my mechanic had replaced along with clutch & flywheel, he also gave it a long over due oil change. So it's not leaking from the sump drains plug, oil filter housing & not from crankshaft seal. It seems to be coming from the back of th engine but up top near the gearbox side, when I was looking around the EGR valve there seems to be oil leaking from near this area as the plastic wiring housing on the EGR has oil underneath it.

Would this indicate the EGR needs to be changed or cleaned out? Going to bring it back to him in the morning to see what he thinks it is, as he said before he done the crankshaft seal that it looks like it's leaking from somewhere else as well. I've to book the car in with him anyways to replace the timing belt. Also it's booked in with Volvo for a health check on Friday.

I would have thought exhaust gas recirculation valve is very unlikely to be related to oil leak.

Are you sure it is actually oil, and not water from the AC making it's way down through the residue from the previous oil leak and making a rainbow on the ground, My old car did that from a power steering leak that I neglected for a while.

I know those engines are full of electronics, but your best bet is to get it hot, spray her down with degreaser, and wash that off with water. Then let it dry, leave her to idle and keep and eye out for where the oil is trailing down from

So wash off the degreaser with water from a car wash steamer? I think it could be oil cause it was full and of oil after oil change & now it's gone down 3-4mm from the full mark on the dip stick. Plus oil dripping off the rear gearbox mount & back of gearbox is fresh oil dripping down & old oil everywhere is dried into everything. I've to go to him any way so get him to have a look & wait to see what Volvo says on the health check see if it's flagged. I've a knocking noise on right hand side when I steer at low speeds replaced track rod end think tie rod could be gone cause it was replaced & boot stuck back on with cable ties so I reckon it's that and possibility of a wishbone cause left hand was changed & right hand wasn't which most mechanics would recommend changing both to keep imbalances or descrepancies the same on both sides
