Verge Mower

Am thinking about buying a verge mower, has anyone any experience with them?
I am in Glas, have both fallow land and arable margins. The Fallow has to be cut at least once a year and cannot be drawn off. The arable margins can be drawn off, but they are full of weeds, so will have very little feed value.
Going into the fallow with a disc mower or topper after the close period of 1st March - 15 Aug, would leave it in a mess.
Part of my thinking behind a verge mower and not a fixed mulcher, i will be able to breast my hedges and do general maintenance round the place with the verge mower, which should offset the extra cost.
If anyone has any advise, it would be greatly appreciated.
