Having a Whiplash Scaldy Porter tonight.
Picked up a couple of cans of Let It Go as well. Put aside with the rest of the Christmas stout stash.

Larkin’s - Morrigan and Wicklow Wolf - Apex S’mores, what do folks make of these two?

Had Morrigan last year, it was nice but there was nothing to distinguish it from every other barrel aged stout going.
S'mores was weird, nice and smooth. Choc and Marshmallow worked very well.

Cheers, I just get the S’mores so.

Had Morrigan last year, enjoyed it but can’t say it was overly memorable. Had S’mores more recently - interesting, funky if a bit gimmicky. The marshmallow, chocolate combo worked. I’ve had a couple from that series and have enjoyed all throughly.

Really enjoyed the S'mores, and still rate it (have 1 left I think), but the later specials have been nicer imo. Wicklow Wolf have had a great autumn!

Haven't got the Larkins. I'm sure it's great, but not sure how many whiskey/ bourbon barrel aged I really need in the stash.

I found the smores like treacle, wouldn't know it was a stout only by the look of it.

Picked up a Kernal IPA, and a small & two large bottles if barrel aged Leann Follain.
The Kernal was really nice. Apparently the Export Porter won't be available, and I was looking forward to that one.

I was disappointed in the Leann Follain I have to say. They mentioned a soft carbonation, but it was totally flat. Hopefully the two larger bottles might be a bit better. There was a sharpness to it that I just didn't like.

I was able to get an Export India Porter from Bradley's, unless you're talking about a different beer?

I was in Molloys. They said the India Export Porter wasn't available.
    I'll have to find Bradley's!

    Edit: Just realised that's Cork!

Ah, perhaps Molloy's was sold out / didn't get any to begin with. I was in Bradley's maybe a day or two after it was stocked and I got one of the last bottles.

They had said it wasn't available. I guess they meant they didn't get any of that one in.

I bought a bottle in Redmond's on Saturday. There looked to be plenty left.

I might even see if Martin's has some in as well.

Could be worth giving DrinkStore a buzz. They're generally pretty good with anything from Grand Cru.

I generally tend to go to Martins and Molloys in town.
I check out DrinkStore when I pass, which isn't all that often, but might go out of my way and swing past tomorrow.

Got a white hag advent box in o'briens for €36. A little cheaper than craft central and craft beers direct. Looking forward to trying the mexican hot chocolate stout and the eggnog pale ale.
Disappointed they didn't get their red ipa into the box though, as I find red ipas very christmassy and theirs was excellent.
Having a Hope Brewery seasonal red ipa to get myself into the spirit, it's very nice. Great malts but could use a little more pine!

I got one in 2018. So great beers included. Only issue I had was that over half the beers included in the box were beers that were already included in the monthly beermail. Still great beers though.

They're my favourite non-Irish brewery (that would be White Hag), so it was a great surprise!

I have avoided ordering much beer the last while from them due to my magpie-like tendencies so this will certainly help scratch that itch.

The Crafty Brewing Co. Christmas selection box in Lidl is great value, 12x500mL for €19.99 including a cognac barrel aged stout. Came into most stores today but doubt they'll be around for long!

Is there much more along the lines of the barrel stout in there or is it mostly their standard stuff?

Just realised the side of the box says whats in it, so this isn't really a spoiler but I'll use the tag anyway in case someone has managed to not see the side!
    2x Lager
    2x Red Ale
    2x Pale Ale
    IPA
    Stout
    Wheat Ale
    Brown Ale
    Saison
    Barrel Aged Stout

Pretty much all of those are 2 quid - 1.96 with the current VAT cut - a bottle so there's some value in the box if you like them all anyway.

Got one myself, going to decide whether to treat it as a half-vent calendar or hold on or what by Tuesday.

Once you take out the two red, the two lager, and the barrel stout I’d probably be safer buying some separately as I wouldn’t touch that 5. Only thing is they don’t normally stock the lot.

I dunno about the other boxes, but it looks like someone messed up when they were filling the box I just bought.
It contains 3 of the special stouts :D

I'd regularly buy the stout and brown, as well as the red, but each to their own I guess. I think they're decent for the money.

Kinda tempted given its something other than whiskey or bourbon barrel aged though.

Just styles I can never warm to, especially any beer with a spirit in it. If they had a pick up your own 12 for 20 it would be great though.

They’re most likely all already gone though (the boxes), people would be buying multiples.
