    Lads,
Any of ye have any experience of the Malone ProCut 800? Would be driven by a 100HP JD. Used for silage and hay cutting. Grass could be fairly heavy now in spots.

Thinking of buying new. Good deal being offered by the local dealer

I know a man with one, not happy at all with it. Poor machine to cut.

    Can you expand a little?
Do you mean in general work that it leaves a bad finish, or only in heavy crop?
And, not trying to be clever or anything, is it the machine is the problem, or the setup, or the man operating?

He says it can't cut heavy crops, tends to drag the grass on with it. He would be a good machinery man.

    Have one here. it's OK.

It used block in heavy grass and the belts would squeal.

I removed the little steel wheel on the left (sward board)and it solved it.

Bought new this yr. More than happy with it. Cuts as good as previous kuhn. Heavy lodged crops will always prove difficult with any disk mower. Disks same shape as kuhn so really cant see how it can cut any worse or better. Well built too.

Was the wheel you removed on the left (looking from behind) or the one near the swath board? I did notice on one heavy crop that it dragged once.

Have a 7ft one. Heel can drag grass at times on the corners. Topping Skids are a disaster if ground is any ways soft or greasy when topping.
As regard cutting performance its as good as any of the dearer mowers. Would I buy one of them again - yes

Thanks for all the replies so far lads. Seems like it's not a complete pile of dung for the job its built for. So I might chance one.

Anyone have a video of one working on their own land/neighbours? Not the promotional ones in perfect fields in perfect conditions!

In fairness they are cheaper than most other makes, are Irish made and they give a very good backup service. So why not
