Shower Pump Damaged

My shower stopped working properly recently. On hot the pump makes no noise and no water comes out. On cold the pump makes a noise as if it's on and a very small flow of water comes out.

This happened shortly after someone left the immersion on for two days between them going on holidays and me returning to the house. This had the boiler making extremely loud rumbling noises and warming the house considerably when I returned. I ran the shower on high heat for a few minutes to let out some of the hot water and since then it won't work.

The pump is located under a bath next to the shower. I wanted to have it fixed/replaced by taking out the panel between the shower and bath. This panel is about 300 mm high X 600 mm long. A plumber stated that this would not be feasible and wanted to remove tiles at the side of the bath instead. I don't have replacement tiles.

Would it be possible to repair/replace the pump through the panel rather than removing the tiles?

Is the pump most likely damaged beyond repair and requiring replacement?

    Any advice appreciated.

Nobody can answer those questions with absolute certainly until they have seen first-hand how accessible the pump and pipework is, the make / model and the condition of the pump.

Thanks. Would photographs of the exterior (ie with the panel and tiles in place) assist?
I'd say I could retrieve the make & model of the pump from the original installer.

Could anyone recommend a plumber in North Dublin?

The thermostat in the immersion needs replacing too. The water wouldn't get hot enough (on factory setting) to damage the pump.

A photo with the bath panel off would help. It is going to have to come off anyway to replace or repair the pump.
