Should Russia be completely banned from the 2016 Olympics? Apparently Vladimir Putin has a friendly relationship with IOC president Thomas Bach. An announcement was due today on the final decision but it appears Bach is delaying the ruling.

Kinda hard to see why they shouldn't be banned.

If it was only a few athletes then it would be overkill but based on the report yesterday this was state sponsored doping on a near industrial scale. If the IOC is independent and moral at all then Russia should be banned from this and the next Olympics.

Can't not ban them without making a mockery of themselves and the entire Olympics.

The delay is until Thursday to wait for the Court of Arbitration for Sport to make a ruling about whether or not the existing IAAF (track &field) ban on Russian athletes is legal.

If (when) CAS upholds the IAAF ban then you can expect to see the IOC ban to all sports that Russia are competing in - or at least all of the ones mentioned in the McLaren report.

It would be a bit of a farce if they didn't ban them though!

No issue with a ban as long as they treat all nations equally:
