Hi. I have missed two periods. I was sure i was pregnant but when i went to doc the test came back negative. Did this ever happen to anyone else . Is the doc test 100 percent accurate or may he have made a mistake.

If you mean urine dipsticks then they are likely cheapies - good but not infallible. The best ones on the market are First Response and Clearblue and test with first morning urine.

There are plenty of non-scary reasons that a period or two could be missed -hormone changes, stress, or our bodies just trolling us every once in a while. There are some medical conditions that can cause a skipped period but a blood test on your hormones will usually show the cause.

My suggestion is to do a first response test, then if that's negative, go back to get your bloods looked at.

If it was the pee on a stick one then it's about the same as one you buy at the store.

If you really want to be 110% sure ask for a bloodtest.

You should be asking to investigate either way if you're period has stopped for 2 months for no reason. Be no harm to ask for the blood test to check all is okay.

I took one in hospital + came back negative, did one at home the next day+ it was positive. I have heard the docs ones are not as sensitive early on- as in within first few weeks. I was 5 weeks.

After missing two periods even the least sensitive pregnancy test would pick up a pregnancy. Have you been having unprotected sex? Is there a chance that you could perhaps still be pregnant but, not quite the full 8 weeks? How are your breasts? any tenderness?

I hope you get an answer soon.

Did you do a home test before going to GP.
Some of the home tests are better than those the GPs have.
Stress can delay periods. If you're stressing about it, it may be a vicious circle.

I'd be a bit surprised if you missed two periods and the GP's test came up negative to be honest.
My second child, the GP test showed up a definite positive at about 6 weeks.
Try a Clearblue or First response test yourself and if it's negative, there are other questions to be asked about what's going on to make two periods not happen.

My GP never bothered to do a test, she said the home ones are better. You'll need to get bloods done to see what's going on with hormones so ask them to do pregnancy one too. Rarely it'll happen that a pregnancy won't show on pee on a stick test. A friend was half way thru her first pregnancy before she found out after doing home tests and doc pee test.
