It was yesterday in Salthill. Amazing how they all chose the same day.

They're going nuts here on the Northside. Also millions of birds going crazy trying to eat them. Did this always happen?? I only noticed it in the last couple of years.

Yes, always happens. July or August, once the temperature gets above a certain figure male and female ants develop wings and take to the air to mate. Usually all colonies in an area do soma the same time once a year.

So...how long until somebody has run round with a giant net to start selling ant themed meals in a pop up restaurant, they seem to serve everything else in them.

There is also an Ant-ipasta joke in there somewhere but I decided to take the high road!

July 19th. On this day, Galway liberated from Indians, Marathon became Snickers, ice age ends. Flying ants are back.

Got the ant powder down at all antholes yesterday, coincidentally. The all flew off today covers in a light dusting of ant death.

There was a flying Ant orgy on my sitting room window the next day.wtf?

Those of you going "what?" may want to read this. I haven't seen any this year, but I did have the experience in South Africa years ago. That wasn't some little swarm, it was days of the sky being completely full of the things. Some folks would catch a bunch, shake the wings off, and fry them up with garilc.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
