Save my garden please!

    My garden has various weeds with dry hard yellow grass.

    I realise not the best time of year but is there anything I can do without digging it all up to bring back nice soft grass the kids can play on?

    We do, but not always, it hasnt rained anywhere near enough lately and has been very hot, your grass is dying, water it.
    Also rake out the dried cut grass thats on top

    It will also be easier to take out the weeds when soil is not so dry

    Not sure how big your garden is, but apart from raking the dead grass off of the surface, I'd use a fork to stab as many holes as you can before you water. Not only will is aerate the ground, but also let the water get down to into the soil.

    You could also consider a 'feed & weed' product to apply - Woodies have an offer on one at the moment, down from €24, to a tenner http://www.woodiesdiy.com/Product/goulding-lawnfeed-weed-and-mosskler-400m2/9553/4.4.0
