Where to buy an EZ curl bar

    Hi,

I have my own little gym set up and I'm hoping to get an EZ curl bar because I can't do straight bar curls due to a wrist injury.

I would buy dumbbell handles but the weight plates I have are bumpers so I think it might be a bit unpractical with the plates being so large.

I've been looking at EZ curl bars from a few places, and so far I've found fitness equipment Ireland to be the cheapest including delivery (€77). Unfortunately D8 fitness have none in stock atm, and strength shop are a bit more expensive and their bar doesn't look great.

Anybody know of any other places selling these bars for a reasonable price?

Thanks unfortunately the majority of the bars there either don't support 50mm plates, don't have enough of a bend in the bar, or have too much bend in the bar. I did find a really good one for 55 delivered tho so I'll be getting that unless I can find a similar one cheaper.

Is 50mm standard gym size for plates?

    25mm is standard size
    50mm is olympic size

There was one in D8 on Friday afternoon for 50. Give them a bell and ask, maybe their web store isn't up to date...

I noticed it 'cos it's on my long term wish list, but i was on my bike so i definitely wasn't lugging it around..

    Care to provide a link?

I'm toying with the idea of an ez curl bar, myself.

What's the advantage of these bars over straight type bar?

Some people find the more neutral grip (vrs straight bar) to be more comfortable on the wrist. It also engages muscles slightly differently

EZ Curl bar is easier on the wrists but with slighly less engagement of the biceps.

A straight bar hits the biceps a bit better but if you're using it a lot for curls you might end up injuring your wrists which will offset any small gains you may get from the straight bar.

Elverys EZ curl bars only support 25mm plates, would be perfect otherwise. I did notice Elverys have some USF black bumper plates going cheap at the moment, €95 for two 25kg bumpers. Although you could get the same in red at D8 for the same price currently.

I was looking at this one: Hardcastle EZ curl bar

The most popular one on Amazon is made by Bodymax, but just from looking at it and from complaints in the reviews it doesn't seem to have enough of a bend in the bar. The one I linked above looks to have a bit more of a bend than that one, and is the same price.

Just seen this. Might be of use:

€49 without shipping, and 10% off with "BARS10". So €44 if you can collect (they're in Dublin.. somewhere..). Doesn't seem to give delivery costs though.
