    Hi folks...
We're looking at buying in a few Angus heifers or steers to try bring them to slaughter off grass,we have plenty of grass and would have .I'm thinking of Angus because I think the way the factories don't want the big carcass anymore Angus would fit this requirement..if anyone on here is doing something like this is love to here about your system, when ye buy and at what weight..also steers or heifers...reason for the change is were suckling now but I'm working away most of the time and it dosnt suit...I'd love to here your thoughts.cheers.

IMO you're just suckling with the wrong breed! Not doing any steer beef here and all my angus heifers go for breeding. What age are you thinking about buying in at?

AFAIK unless you are breeding your own angus cattle it's a numbers game and agreeing to provide cattle months in advance to get the best of the groups.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

I'm hoping to buy 14/15 months at 380 to 420kg.and try finish off the grass..to be honest I've never finished Angus before so I'm not that up on them. Obviously they won't get into big weights...what weight in your opinion is an Angus heifers finished at...and what's the bonus if any on producing for the Angus group are there any benefits..
