Some might say that Boeing's history ended in 1997 when the MDC bean-counters took over. 'McDonnell Douglas bought Boeing with Boeing's money' went the quip at the time and if you look at their products since then the most 'Boeingish' was the 777ER/LR which single-handedly killed the 747 and the A340.

'No more Moonshots' is the current Boeing philosophy, which is a sad comparison to what was once a company that would bet its future on a single projet.

Would you not say the 787 was a moonshot with $32bn development cost. It was revolutionary (more so than the a350), with a very similar story to the 747

It will be a long time before cerebrating this for Airbus.

Thanks for the factual input. Airbus itself being a conglomeration of companies, some of whom have a history stretching back to the start of the aviation age.
Did you have an actual point or did you just want to try and start and A vs B thread? Because there is another aviation forum where that is a regular occurrence.
