A horrendous year to get shearing done
Farmers are going to have to work with shearers this year, be prepared to wait, have a shed for them, etc...if you can't guarantee them dry, shearers will go where the can be guaranteed.
I shear here in August with no ill effects.
We can leave them in for 48hrs if we have to as the lambs are not with them.
Very easy to get a shearer that time of the year, especially in broken weather like we're having now.
A shed that hasn't been cleaned out since the winter is the best for putting them in for shearing as the rotten straw doesn't seem to stick in the wool

How do you prevent flystrike in the ewes, do you dip in May /June or use pour on

Would you not lose some on their backs?
Do they lose condition leaving them so late?

Doesn't seem to be a problem, they're texel/lleyn cross and don't seem to develop into the same helpless sheep that they would if the lleyn influence wasn't there.
