Facebook app Android

For a few months I've had a problem with the facebook app on my Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge.
The app works, until I change to a different wifi connection or change to 3g. Then it will not connect.
I then have to go to my application manager open Facebook and force Stop.
This happens numerous times a day.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. There has been a few Facebook updates since but still the same problem.
Any idea how I can stop this happening?
    Thanks.

No other apps affected by this? Maybe try a facebook alternative for a while, see if you notice any difference. I'm trying Metal right now.

Create a link on your home screen to Facebook Web page. Facebook app was a resource hog and gave me loads of problems, updates would solve one problem and bring another, on a weekly basis.

+1 FB on a mobile phone is a disaster - battery drain & memory hog. There is life without it, I only use it at home on a tablet.

It's the middle of summer, if you want to see lots of cats or children, go for a walk around the block.

    Yes only Facebook app affected.
It works fine through the web page so might use this option.
I just can't understand why its doing it for so long.

I find a browser is a handy enough app to use on most websites. I don't get why they try to create their own apps. I've never seen one with any benefit to the user.

Thats exactly it .. Its not for the most part, for the users benefit. It suits their needs - I.e advertising etc.

Things like direct sharing, etc. Android devices are set up in such a way if you're in your gallery and share a photo the app will pop up in the list, but a mobile website won't. I try to use mobile website where possible too but for some there are functionality issues (m.facebook.com no longer allowing you to see messages being one example), plus sometimes there's just a much better experience due to design on apps.

There really isn't with Facebook though. They went out of their way to create a separate messaging app. I just don't use messaging until I get to a pc. It's getting like 10 years ago when there was multiple im services people used and you had to install each client. The web app craze now is the same thing all over again. We'd be better off without it.

I have the Facebook messenger app on my phone, but don't have the Facebook app. Find the messenger app fine, doesn't seem want to take over your whole phone like the Facebook app does.

Get the Folio app for Facebook, it uses the web page but allows you theme, tweak and disable stuff and doesn't drain the battery

Same with me, massive problems with the app. Says it is not connected to the internet half the time even when it is. Anyone know the story when you add a friend. You get a load of likes from the post but don't get any actual notification itself. Why is this anyone know?

Facebook app is a bloated piece of crap, slows down phone, drains battery......

Use wrapper apps as an alternative like - Metal, Fast etc

Facebook Has Been Intentionally Crashing Its Android App on Users
To test the limits of consumer patience, the company crashed the app again and again and again to see who stuck around.

I did a factory restore to fix this problem. It didn't fix it. This is crazy. It makes no sense. No one seems to have any solution
