To split or upgrade line?(eir)

    Hi boards,
So i am getting fed up not being able to enjoy playing online games(csgo, other online games) without having to kick everyone off the wifi to be able to play a whole game without lagging. I live in the mallow area and it is getting efiber slowly but my estate dosnt seem to be getting the upgrade anytime soon even with more than half of the town upgraded. Seen from there official site not even marked for any time frame also i am about less than 300 meters away from one of those cable cabinets maybe less haven't really checked it.

So i went and looking and i found this page its google (eir prices) in the broadband section there is a list of prices, now by the looks of it, its to do with line speeds and plans with eir and roughly it would cost about 200e to get something done now just to get to the point should i just wait for them to upgrade my estate and stop complaining which doesn't seem to be getting upgraded in the foreseeable future. Should i be looking into upgrading the line myself to efiber? Is it a better choice to get in a second line to split wifi and Ethernet and leave them up-grade it to efiber when the time comes around?

Thanks in advance, dont be afraid to suggest or say anything i'm just looking for a solution not going to take anything to heart.

Sorry, my head hurts a little after reading your post. How do you propose to upgrade the line yourself?

I'm not upgrading it my self that's what the cost of roughly 200e is 100 alone for callout charges for eir, now I'm not sure if work has to be done to get the line into the house.

The eFibre myth again. If your estate hasn't got it by now it never will. Waited three years with a promise that it was coming. The final straw this year was when they offered their 4G wireless connection. Said it all really about eFibre. Finally dumped Eir and went elsewhere.

Sounds real messy what you're trying to do. If you have an alternative wired option go for it.

What was your situation were you in a town or rural? And what have you now and how is it work ing for you?

Not true, FTTC isnt done yet. eFibre is still possible *if your cab isnt active yet*. If it is active then you're on FTTH for 2017-2020.

A callout doesnt fix your problems, you're talking more than €1000 for FTTB + >€100/mo to just pay the problem away.

Go for a second line if you're desperate.

Luckily I am based in suburban Dublin. I understand that customers outside major towns are quite limited in their choice.

Why I waited so long after all the hot Eir I received from Eir re eFibre before I made the switch is beyond me. They had their chance on many occasions to put the matter straight and reveal the truth on eFibre but no, all I got was the stock answer about the colour coded coverage map. After 22 years loyal custom and that's the best they could come up with. Oh,and the "I'll pass your comments on to the powers that be". I'm thinking that there's nobody in charge of the asylum at Eir.

Just curious to know where you are receiving your rollout info from. I don't think the "average Joe/Joan" gives a **** if the famous cabinet is eFibre enabled or how far they live from an exchange. All they want is a 21st century broadband connection.

I'd assume they will offer what every other VM customer can get, 240 or 360Mb/s. Of course that will increase in future :)
