The Case for Soulless Life?

By "soulless" I mean the very spark of consciousness, the birth of the psyche, the unfoldment of the Self, being not presented in artificial life forms. What began with tales of Golems, Frankensteins and Pinochios, has come into reality of today.

I have to be honest about this. I am not comfortable with corporations creating artificial living creatures as you know it is only a matter of time when the psychopaths who run big business will no longer outsource your job job to China and Indian, but they will outsource your existence to the machine.
"Thanks to disruptive, cross-disciplinary applied science like this, entrepreneurs in the next few years will be able to play on the border of what life is, what alive means, and what life can be. "

    http://www.inc.com/lisa-calhoun/meet-the-first-artificial-animal.html

Once the corporations get hold of this, the world won't be a place for you and your children. I think we need to put the brakes on this and bring back strict corporate enforcement on the issue.

and before some halfwit from the Civil Service chimes in. I am not anti-Abortion. This is something VERY different indeed.

Military Killbots...Sex Slaves...Paedophile Legal Highs...Recreational Legal Murders and so on. All for a price.

    This is dark ****.

Homer: Now then... computer, kill Flanders!

Ned: Did I hear my name? My ears are burning!

Homer:[whispering to mouse] That's a good start, now finish the job!

Ned: Oh, you're busy. Catch you later, compu-tator!

Homer: Oh, five thousand dollars for a computer and it can't even handle a simple assignment!

Paedophile Legal Highs were pretty hyped at first, got on the cover of NME, but the album was a bit of a dud and they just fell apart after that.

Oh OP, if only you too could have seen attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion or watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate, perhaps then you could understand

Joking aside, this is exactly the sort of thing that could lead to artificial organs for dying people and sexy new bodies for me before I get too old to have fun, so shut up OP.

Yup, and usually a post like that will come from someone with very few posts, someone with a lot of posts exclusively in a politics forum or someone from some weird forum I never check.
That guy's primary concerns beyond the paedophile VR or whatever it is that he's on about seem to revolve around public transportation though.

This is the kind of OP that makes me despair for the calibre of people in this country right now.

    WHAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT?

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain...

A soulless life isn't so bad.

A life without cod, however...that is the spectre that haunts me.

This was state of the art chatbot. ELIZA It's now 50 years old.

It was run on a 0.0005 GHz computer with 0.000128 GB of RAM and was just one program running on a machine shared with other users.

Chatbots haven't improved much considering how powerful things like Google or Amazon clouds , considering how much programming effort has been extended since.

Who's memories are they originally though? There is only one way to solve this..

You are in a desert, walking along in the sand when all of a sudden you look down and see a tortoise, it's crawling towards you, you reach down and flip the tortoise over on it's back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over. But it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that Your Face?
