    Hi,

My sister works part time but only sometimes meets the requirements to be able to claim.

She sent in claim form a few weeks back and only noticed today they never paid her, it use to be a check in post but it's a payment to bank now.

Anyway she was dropping in another form today and to find out about missing payment and they told her her record is gone from their system and they are now looking for her to reapply with birth certs/mortgage stuff/employer stamp/etc.

Is this the done thing or did she happen upon some inexperienced staff member?

Whoever received the last cert never bothered to ring her or nothing!!?

Advise your sister to contact the dept in writing and ask them what is going on,in the mean while supply all the paper work they are asking for.

Only reason for her birth cert is to establish her identity (given she was already on a claim, they didn't ask for that at this late point unless she needs a new PPS card)...maybe a cert for a new arrival in her family?...i.e additional Child Dependant Allowance.
Mortgage payments go to nothing, only rent paid reduces the means. And yes, that is not fair and pisses everyone off.
And yes, the employer does need to stamp the casual dockets. A small mom and pop shop..sure "no stamp" will do.....anything bigger and they will have a stamp.
Her record gone from system is bull**** (on DSP's part) - even if she has spent twenty years ducking appointments and being off the grid, she is on the system.
Convincing a civil servant that NO, I was not my 10 years dead grandfather born in 1914 when I first signed on back in the 90s is memorable. Just because we shared the extremely common first name of Floating (insert where applicable).

Just to clarify... rent paid doesnt give any reduction in a persons means for jobseekers allowance.

It does if mum or dad are paying it. Goes to "benefit and privilege" if the applicant is under 25 and the parents payslips are any way sizable. 25 and over, parental income / expenses do not matter any more.

Totally an assumption on my part - the younger people on the main need to provide more paperwork (at first) than the average punter - and apologies, that is beside the point. Claims should not vanish into thin air for any reason.

I agree claims shouldnt vanish. It does seem strange that the claim was up and running and in payment and then payment stopped and claim closed without any reason.
