Recently, following 2 fully blossomed trees very quickly both died off.
Along with this the lawn in the same location lost its green and a grass plant died off.

    Any suggestions why ??

Is it a long term issue ?

If the grass, the lawn and the trees were there for at least a season and were fine previously, then it looks as though they have been sprayed with something. Has anyone on the other side of the fence sprayed weeds or their fence? Have you sprayed anything in the garden? I think I would be checking the other side of the fence to see is there anything dead on that side. You need to know what happened before it is possible to say how permanent the damage is, though whatever it is the grass and lawn will need to be replaced.

Birch trees take a lot of water out of the soil and that might have an impact on your lawn and obviously the young trees underneath.

I have a birch tree growing in a lawn, and another one nearby and the grass or other plants have never been affected at all.

As already advised Id be looking over that fence to see what's going on there? Looks like grass and trees have been poisoned. Is neighbours oil tank nearby?

Good point about the oil. If it is a leak next doors insurance is going to have to pay to have all that topsoil removed and the garden reinstated, its a serious issue that would need expert treatment, not an amateur job.

Looks dried out to me. If it was an oil leak you would smell it!

Fill a watering can with water and add a little washing up liquid to it and stir. (make sure it says "non ionic" on the back. Persil is OK)
Adding the washing up liquid first is fine but gives you tons of bubbles!

Water the area that looks dry with the soapy water. The washing up liquid acts as a wetting agent so breaks surface tension.

Wait 10 mins and soak the area with the hose. If it does not green up after 2-3 days then you have another problem.

Hi, just a little confused. You say washing up liquid, but mention Persil, which is for washing clothes?...

Its all detergent in the end, he's talking about breaking the surface tension not washing clothes/dishes.

Quix, then. Not Persil Non-Bio :)

Where did you get the mulch near the dead grass plant? I have heard of mulch sometimes being treated with chemicals so maybe the person supplying the mulch put a bit too much weed killer in this batch.

    Sorry meant Fairy!!

Looking at the pics again it may be Leatherjackets. Soak a bit of the lawn with tons of water one evening and cover it with black plastic. Lift the plastic in the morning and see if there are any of these.. http://tinyurl.com/hejtpwb

Leatherjackets and drought might affect the lawn, though they are amazingly restricted to one particular area, but that would not account for two dead birch trees and the ornamental grass.

Any chance of bigger photo's? It does look like the result of some underground spillage (just how the shape of the dead grass appears to be spreading, coming from the fence) What is on the other side of the fence, out of interest? Whatever is doing the damage seems to be - according to the photos - restricted to the root zone of the trees. If the desolated area expands, there is definitely some soil problem, and I don't mean microbes. Any pipes running there?

Is that a new concrete post and base fence?
... or is it freshly painted?
