will there be a 10k this year too or just the 1/2?

No I'm afraid there is no 10k this year.
We are just concentrating on the half..

Everyone entered up til the end of July (midnight Sunday) will be in a draw for 2 pairs of Brooks runners.

One pair for the female entrants and one for male..

Only 1 week week left to enter the Flatline.... unless it sells out beforehand.

It has been a sell out every year up to now.
We don't expect anything different in this our 5th year.:)

    Hi,

I'm travelling down from Leixlip on the morning of the race. Aiming to leave at 8am so I should get down between 09:30-10:00.

I'll have to collect my race park on the morning so want to allow plenty of time giving that registration closes at 10:30.

Would this be too late to get parking in St.Aloysius College? Would I be better off parking in Athlone Town Centre?

    Thanks

The Athlone Town Centre is a bit of a walk away from Aloysuis. If you can't get parking at the college, the Shamrock Lodge hotel is quite close and should have some parking.
Edit to add that food in shamrock lodge is nice.

The car parking and marsjalling has always been excellent at the Flatline.
Last year they had extra car parking in a field nearby and plenty of marshals showing us where to go. So I'd suggest heading straight down there.

    +1 to this
if you are leaving Leixlip at 8am you should have no problem getting parking.

Maybe I over estimated by journey time but better that I gave myself plenty of time. Down at 0915 and plenty of spaces, think I beat the rush :)

Superbly run race as usual in athlone. Thanks to all the organisers, Pacers and marshals. Fabulous route and weather was pretty fair overall, despite moments of heavy heat. Small sports bottles with caps every three miles... Brilliant.

Special mention too to the tshirt this year. "Long" long sleeved shirt, with a pocket on the upper left arm... Nice touch. Nice medal too, but the tshirt is one of the nicest I have gotten in any race.

I have to agree - I've done a lot of running events and this was by far the best organised. The number collection, T-shirt collection, parking right beside the start line, loads of marshalls, great support on the route, loads of goodies at the finish line, lots of toilets - all top notch. The nice flat course also helped. Special mention for the t-shirt - again the best I've got at any event and nice touch with the pocket on the arm.

    Well done to all involved

Echo that of the previous posters, well organised, from Parking, number and t-shirt to on course marshals. I do think the two hour pacers watch was broken, heard they eventually came in nearly four minutes under. People were being blown off the back of them around the eight mile mark,

I hope who ever it was that needed the medical attention on the course is recovering well. It's never nice to see an ambulance needed during a race.

This was my first flatline but I think I'll be back. Well done to all involved

Yeah my wife was trying to stick with the 2hr pacer but seemed to go off way too quick. Had to give in after 6 or 7k. +1 on whoever needed the ambulance, my wife passed them but there was plenty of assistance around at that stage.

I heard that girl who needed the ambulance is home again and ok.

That was my third Flatline and as always I come away mad that I missed the first year. Last year, it was the week as a full in Dingle, so wasn't an option. Amsterdam the target this year, so couldn't ask for better race to set me up.

The start was better than before and majority of runners seemed to be in with a realistic pacer. Love the finish and the concentrated support. Well done to all the organisers and volunteers on a great event.

Sad to hear that it is no more, there will be no Flatline in 2018 if ever again. Big loss of a top quality race from the racing calender. Can understand the reasoning and massive thanks to the organisers the past 5 years.

Just heard the news there now. Bit disappointed, I was considering trying for a half next year and this was going to be my goal next Sept. I've done the 10k and volunteered and spectated, it's a great event. But I can completely understand the organisers decision.
