Guinea Pigs on apartment balcony

Hi, I recently got a couple of Guinea pigs and have been housing them in a hutch on my apartment balcony. They have been there for 4 days and have been fine as far as I can tell (I'm new to Guinea pigs). I was told they were quiet animals and for the most part they have been. So far they have been quiet enough at night - you can only here them move around or drink water, and that's with the balcony door open a little at night. I'm a bit of a worrier so although everything has been fine so far, I'm still a bit worried that one night they might kick off and squeak a bit. I don't want to bother the neighbours! Does anyone else have any experience with this? I'm considering moving the hutch inside but as you can imagine, in an apartment it would take up a bit of space.

    Thanks in advance!

I would recommend to contact the group Irish guinea pig and rabbit group on facebook, a wealth of knowledge. I have a herd of piggies and they are great pets. Piggies will squeak when something is wrong or they are excited about something. Depending on your balcony set up I would imagine it could be lovely....to potentially too cold for them. They are quiet animals and with a very sweet nature. I love having them in the house as they are so interesting to watch and tame much better being around noises and people. It depends really why you would like to have guinea pigs and if they have a quality of life out on the balcony...whats the hutch like?

Their squeaks are quiet endearing & they usually don't squeak very often unless they hear their food back.

To be honest you will need to bring them indoors in the autumn/winter as they would not do well outside. I know some people do keep them outside in winter but it is far from ideal.

    My Guinea Pigs are indoors.
