Please tell me we're not going to be subjected to the Iceland clap at darts from now on

This is an understandable change but its a pity also. Four Best of 25 matches made it just about the toughest night of the year for the viewer, think it went on until near 1am one year.

    Aarghhhhh didn't notice that.

Can't change the format of the Matchplay, the Grand Prix was bad enough. Fcuk whoever is making all the games shorter.

I wonder if the Sunday afternoon in this competition is sold at a decent discount - it really is the graveyard where they send the terrible matchups.
Highest ranked player was Ian White at 12 I think.

Websters dartitis looks to be affecting him again. He's throwing well but you can see the little pause before he releases and he's leaning in on the throw.

I see the crowd have started the Icelandic chant from the Euros. Time and a place for that sort of thing and it's not at the darts

Well played Steve Beaton. As for Lewis and Price last night. Pair of gob****es and as for the interview after the match with Lewis.... beyond childish

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,045 ✭✭✭✭gramar

Lewis gets riled up easily and says a few stupid things now and then and kind of lets himself down but no harm in there being a bit of bad blood between players.

Too many one sided games, Tuesday was bad and last night wasn't much better. With the exception of Beaton and King the last 8 looks like a PL line up.

That was some battle between Lewis and Wright!

In contrast MvG and Chizzy was more like watching a practice match.

It looks like Chizzy has been getting tips off Richie Burnett. He throws some serious shoulder into some of his darts and it does him no favours at all.

Taylor's having an awful time on the doubles tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,229 ✭✭✭marklazarcovic

Can king keep up the pace, taylor giving him enough chances

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,626 ✭✭✭crasy dash

ahhh Nearly out of nowhere that came that 10 dart leg

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,220 ✭✭✭✭Scorpion Sting

Great stuff from Beaton, an eleven dart leg at a crucial time.

What a game this is. Would love to see Beaton do it.

Mardle is giving me a serious pain in the head.

    Mvg v Lewis
    Taylor v Ando

    Tasty night tomorrow

Mardle is giving me a serious pain in the head.

I think he's getting worse if that's possible.

Enjoyable game. Lovely darts from Beaton. He's easy to watch, lovely smooth throw. Top 4 in the world in the semi's. I think Anderson and MvG will make the final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,626 ✭✭✭crasy dash

Great game Beaton on had Anderson rattled there.
    Roll on tomorrow night

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,626 ✭✭✭crasy dash

Agree with the comments about mardle, what's worse sky seem to be giving him more air time these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,522 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Lewis lacks the bottle to hit key doubles

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Lewis' gamesmanship here is slightly pathetic.

He's painfully slow taking his darts out.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,045 ✭✭✭✭gramar

Lewis got his arse handed to him as expected. Acting the bully against Gerwyn Price but found out again tonight that there is always someone bigger than he is.

Looks like a Taylor - van Gerwen final then. Taylor looking like the Taylor of old tonight.

Never gave Anderson a look in. Very much won by Taylor as opposed to Anderson losing it.

I wonder is the format too long. Players get a few legs behind and it's all over. I wonder if a shorter format to 11 work better?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,522 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Guy had sign taken off him during Phil Taylor interview. Said "I signed Rich Kelly". Don't see what's wrong with that?

It's a long format alright. Players start to get a bit dispirited when they know they have a mountain to climb. On the other hand though when it's a close game, it makes for tremendous viewing.

Taylor was good, but don't give him too much credit.

Anderson had one of those nights that he still has occasionally where he couldn't hit a double to save his life.

    The scoreline was a joke.

Taylor played aswell as he has in 2 or 3 years. He started almost every leg with a 140+ score, Any time Gary was on a double, Taylor had the pressure on. Gary didn't have all that many miseed shots at double anyway. Phil was ruthless and deserves the credit.

It's my favorite final anyway, This will be a gauge of where Phil's mind is. Often beat before he gets to the Oche against MvG.

Great to see Taylor winning last night. 56 years old and he's in the Matchplay final, that achievement can't be understated.

Hopefully he finishes the job tonight but I can't see it happening, unfortunately.

This is absolute tripe to be fair.

Taylor averaged 108 for the first half of the game. That's almost impossible to live with.

He out scored Anderson and piled on pressure non stop.

Anderson was 36% on doubles which isn't the worst by any means.

The first half, Taylor was super, but his average came down to 102 by the end. Anderson had plenty of chances that he just didn't take. And Taylor was clinical.

I should've been clearer. Taylor absolutely deserved the win and outplayed Anderson. But the scoreline flattered him IMO.

And I'll be shouting for Taylor tonight.

Come on now Phil, play your A game and don't be intimidated by him tonight.

Love to see him average 105+ again early and see what happens.

This could and should be epic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Phil may have already missed his chance.

    That bull was huge already.

    Needs to stop buckling doubles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Phil just loses it against MVG.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,220 ✭✭✭✭Scorpion Sting

Michael will take control now. Can see it finishing 18-7 to MVG.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,466 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    This is embarrassing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,286 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

Can't believe I got sucked back into giving Taylor a shout tonight.

I literally have never seen another top level sportsperson so afraid of a rival. He poos his pants vs Van Gerwen every time. Just cannot handle the pressure once he goes behind him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,626 ✭✭✭crasy dash

Its more like a barney v Taylor game tonight, mvg in total control as much as I hate saying it don't think Phil can come back I'd love it if he did though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,220 ✭✭✭✭Scorpion Sting

    Stupid carry on from Phil.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,626 ✭✭✭crasy dash

If someone did that to him he would explode
Think he knows he can't pull it back so resorting to this now, thing is he was doing fine didn't need to do it he had mvg worrying.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 267 ✭✭El Chapo

Stupid carry on my arse. He was getting murdered and needed to do something, call it what you like but he's not going to roll over and let MvG hammer him.

It's worked too. Looks in much better shape now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,563 ✭✭✭✭peteeeed

Even by Taylor's standards his behaviour is a joke
