Booking B&B on trivago and booking.com

I booked a room recently in a b&b for a few days away in the west of Ireland next week. I searched trivago and it brought me to booking.com where I booked the room for €100 per night with free cancellation. This evening I've seen the price reduced to €80 for the same b&b for the same dates. Has anyone experience of cancelling and rebooking at the cheaper rate? Thanks

If I were you, I would cancel and book direct with the B&B if you can find a phone number. They pay a fee to booking.com etc. and will often pass on the saving.

I phoned them and they said they had no rooms left even though they had on booking.com.

They probably have to assign a number to booking.com. Did you try the cancel and rebook?

I haven't tried to cancel and rebook the same property on booking.com, but I have booked a cheaper hotel in the same city for the same dates and then cancelled the original booking, and the system doesn't question how you can be staying in 2 places at the same time. So if you have free cancellation, maybe book the new rate first and then cancel the old one.

I have cancelled a booking and re- booked at the cheaper price with Booking.com.
I booked the cheaper option first and then cancelled the more expensive room.
I had no problems with it.
It was a large hotel in Spain.
The last B&B I booked in Ireland with them told me in future ring them up and they would give me a better price than Booking. Com
