Overgrown meadow - what to do

My mother has around 3 acres of a meadow that she was looking to sell for silage but no takers. Its gone very strong now and she's looking to do something to clean it up. She was on about mowing it and just letting it rot down. I reckoned in that case she'd be as well off just leaving it and let it die off into the winter.

What would ye think? Leave as is or cut and let it rot?

Wait for a forecast. Mow it make hay.. This is one way of maying a silk purse of a pigs ear if you get it good and dry. Horse the bales up on done deal 10 eur a bale

There's always pony/donkey sanctuaries looking for feed, maybe offer it to them and let them get on with organising the mowing/baling/collection.
