Leixlip House Hotel

    Hi guys,

I'm due to get married in the Leixlip House hotel later this year, but have just heard that Dublin City Council are due to take it over from 1st January. They have contacted all 2017 brides and offered to move them to their sister hotel or they given them a refund of their deposit paid to date.

We've already handed over nearly 1/2 of the payments and I'm really worried. I'm worried that as they will no longer be doing weddings, perhaps the same commitment to service mightn't be there. They don't need to maintain their status as a wedding venue and we're tied in already with payments and I'm feeling very stressed about the whole thing.

We booked the venue as we felt it was a specialised wedding hotel and whilst they are still operating as normal (so they say) until 31st December, we're feeling a little exposed and worried as to what might happen on the day.

It also doesn't help that there are various rumours flying around about what might/might not be happening with the hotel. I've spoken to the manager there already but I'm just wondering is anyone else in this situation. Any advice? I don't want to be worrying for the next 6 mths!

    thanks,
    TT

Hi there, we are due to get married at this venue in December. I just found out the below this evening. I cannot believe it. Just wondering if you have since got married there? or how it all went?
we are not comfortable to get married here under the current circumstances.

we have had confirmation that there are families and others living her long term and that they are moved out at the wknds so that functions can take place...

Why would Dublin City Council be taking it over, it's in Kildare?

I have no idea but I'd guess given that it's not too far from Dublin, as in families could still get children to school etc...

Yeah but a local authority can't just buy land in another zone! Dublin City Council can't buy land in Leixlip any more than Cork City Council can. I'd be curious as to what the OP's source is.

Edited as I realised that I mixed up Leixlip House Hotel with Leixlip Manor!! NO IDEA why the hell it would come under DCC as it very much is in Kildare!

Any update on this issue? We are booked into Leixlip Manor for a May 2017 wedding and no word of any of this at all has reached us. In fact we were only just at their wedding showcase last Sunday.

Getting married here this year too - have to say so far I have been pretty disappointed with lack of contact from them. They should have contacted everybody regarding the sale of the house. Instead we had to keep sending emails & leaving messages until eventually somebody got back. All reviews before we booked said how incredibly helpful the staff were but we have had zero contact from them - I even had to keep asking about payment & when payments were due. I'm happy enough to have a venue booked but was kind of hoping that they would help with the planning - it's all been very pie in the sky so far & we have a lot of unanswered questions regarding guest numbers, meal, wine, timings etc.

Yes I'd agree they are quite lax on contact, etc. I need to physically go in soon with a list of questions I need answered, and I still haven't met the wedding planner either. The girl we dealt with so far in person has been very nice though.

No I wasn't - we're going for the BBQ so maybe it's a different situation. My boyfriend rang them the other day with some questions and they were less than enthused to help! Aaaaagh, getting a bit nervous now

Hello, we had a wedding booked for the summer with deposits paid. We went to talk to new owners (Chinese Investment Firm) in January. It was clear that us wanting the day we planned was a pain in the ass for them. When at home we emailed correspondence previously agreed and the response was pretty much "well this isn't working so we will refund your deposit". This was 4 months to wedding. Luckily we found an alternative but it could have really ruined the wedding. I hope everyone who sticks with them has a great day (the renovations looked fab) but it wasn't for us xxx

Did everyone hear this? If you scroll down to Leixlip Manor and click Listen you'll hear an interview about it.
