Ferrari running the halo this morning on Vettel's car. I get what they're trying to do but man it looks ugly

It's near unwatchable on Channel 4....the amount of advertising breaks is actually farcical :(

Ye they can be annoying just watch it 4 minutes behind. Then when it comes to a break press fast forward or Sky and then its not as bad.

Watching on UPC via a non dvr box...so no record functions. Setanta showing pre-recorded highlights of Wimbledon instead of live F1 too....wow.

is there a better text feed to follow the Practice on , BBC is tad polarized to certain drivers . Normally I don't mind just today its annoying.

I'm at work hence the text updates :D

BBC text comments can be nauseating, but still the best I've found. Following @c4f1 on twitter too.

Last week really made me come off the fence and I am out and out shouting on Rosberg now!

The F1 app, has also live audio commendatory, what might be better suited. Not sure if only for practices or also races

Pretty big crash for Ericsson in Practice 3. Not what Sauber needs

Might be bit damp for qualifying

You could see how much of a battering his legs took on the replay. Even the steering wheel came off. Twas a fairly hefty shunt

That was a fierce crash which was head-on into the tyre wall. I wouldn't be surprised if they subbed him out on advice from doctors. Anyone know who their reserve driver is at the moment?

Marciello is the reserve driver but he is involved with GP2 this weekend and there is no fittet seat and two hours to quali. Maybe ask van der Garde? :D

    Vettel's gearbox gone again?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 411 ✭✭Delboy2015

Vettel really is having a bad season if he has to replace this gearbox...a brand new one at that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,708 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Funny, I'm thinking it's a tall order to have the car repaired for quali. Maybe give Marcus a rest for the day and start from the pitlane tomorrow with the Doctor's approval!

Accuweather's MinuteCast for Silverstone is predicting no rain for the next 120 mins, so if they're right it's dry Q sessions.

Wonder will we see Ericsson miss the race... I suppose only if concussed he need to take break. Wonder is there any rule based on g-force recorded in driver ear piece

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,411 ✭✭✭✭flazio

Reminds me of Sainz smack in Russia last year. I reckon he'll try to make the race tomorrow. He's in hospital for more checks.
Another gear box penalty for Vettel.

    This too shall pass.

Really enjoyed that clip with the go-carting on 4. Wouldn't it be interesting when the F1 season is over and done, stick all 22 drivers into go-carts and see how they all fair out in equal equipment in a race.

Look like Vettel is getting Kimi's 'luck' this year.

    Here we go.

They are getting very strict on the track limits which is only right. Palmer already had a lap deleted because all four wheels were out over the white line.

I think its not looking good here for the two Renault drivers already they both had a lap deleted. Neither of them have set a time yet.

Well, that was daft from Button and team at his home GP: gambled that his time would be good enough for Q2 without going out again, and lost.

Magnussen did have a lap time deleted for going over the lines, but it wasn't the fast lap, so Button is out of the car.

Kimi did well to keep the car going, but the tyres ...

Looks like there was an issue with the back of the car.
Confirmed by Button the rear wing is loose.

    This too shall pass.

Indeed - and if they knew that and fixed it, why not go out again for a better time? The time was not good enough, regardless of the cause.

Good laps from Alonso & Sainz. Shame Perez is out but free tyre choice for the race as a consolation

Jenson robbed there of Q2. Could someone not have made a quicker decision? Fast on the track, slow off it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,469 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Verstappen doing really well to be within a second of Mercedes.

    Hamiltons lap gone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,833 ✭✭✭CFlat

    Wow that's harsh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 411 ✭✭Delboy2015

Too many inconsistencies by the stewards in relation to what is four wheels over and what is not four wheels over.

If they used pressure pads on the kerbs, as suggested by sky, it would make these decisions clear cut.

Same rule they've been enforcing for everybody. Drivers were all briefed on how it would be policed. I don't see how it's harsh myself. He still has time for another lap

So how did Magnussen get away with it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,469 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Yes only certain corners they will penalised for, so where drivers haven't got penalised it because its not corner where advantage gained

Button decision was fair enough, magnussan lost his time but then went and set a legal lap

No idea I didn't see that lap and I'm not a steward. I do know Magnussen had one lap taken away

    Some lap under pressure

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,833 ✭✭✭CFlat

Great lap from Ham under some serious pressure. Verstappen is the real deal.
