I got charged emergency tax this week in a new place i started working this week. I gave my employer my p45 today. Will i get refunded the emergency tax next week or will i have to wait till end of year to request a p21 balancing statement ?

if you are due emergency tax back you should get it from your new employer once they have the correct details. You can speed things up by ringing Revenue yourself, give them your PPS number and the employer's registered number and ask for your tax credits & cut offs to be assigned to new employer. Don't rely on the new employer to process your P45 - unfortunately, too many of them don't do it promptly.
