Up until yesterday I didn't even know what a salvage car was but now I just cant stop looking at them.

Would it not be a good idea to buy one of these crashed ones for eg
    http ://www. copart.ie/uk/Lot/25694876?searchId=886458530
    And repairing it?

I have seen those chassis straightening jigs before so would it be possible to straighten the chassis (if bent) and buy all the new parts such as lights, wings, bumpers etc.

This might be an obvious no-go situation but now im really curious to see whether it is possible or not to do without being a specialist in the repair business.

Feel free to call me an idiot, love Aivia.

Idiot! (just taking the opportunity to say it :P)

On the serious note, If you win a decent auction for decent money they I see no reason why not, except don't be one of those "Never Crashed, only driven kids to school" type of people when you sell it. The thing is that you can't see the car before you buy it, so it could end up being a fully grown lemon. Non-repairable, and you will spend few grand trying to fix it.

Remember, there is a reason why they are Cat. C & D.

EDIT: I didn't notice it was an old thread..
