The lad that sunk the ship and was up for manslaughter...

The lads that found the spaceship under the sea in the baltic...

    The nuclear lads in Fukishima...

Any other news stories of the last few years with no outcome after?

Philip Cairns definitely killed by DJ Cookie, without a doubt, because it was all over the media, last month.

The Saudi led intervention in Yemen.

An incestuously close relationship with America, certainly helped them in the news suppression stakes.

The Egyptian/French aircraft disappearing about six weeks ago, there was no closure for that or follow up news about whether it was an explosion, the black box found or anything relating to it, The news just disappeared of the radar like the aeroplane.

The black box was found last week.

Big news , all over the headlines. And then nothing, money talks, or shuts people up in this case.

That was in the news last week. It's finally recovering and should be fully healed by 2050 or so.

Unusual trading patterns before the Twin Tower attacks.

I think that's more for Conspiracy Theories than proper news tbh.

I'm fairly sure it was on the mainstream news shortly after the attacks.

Edit: Snopes says it there was unusual trading but it was coincidental.

Nothing to see here. Move along folks.

It wouldn't be surprising if terrorists tried to benefit financially from trading in options prior to causing a calamity.

Far be it from me to give financial advice to a terrorist, but they really ought to be doing this, if they are not already.

they are clever boys and girls. I'm sure they are aware of this.

One lad got arrested in that place.
But in reality, offshore investment accounts are perfectly legal, same as setting up shell companies.

If I was earning what they all earned I wouldn't want thousands to be paid in tax every week.

They wouldn't be able to anyway. They would more than likely be from countries that are high risk and any due diligence checks that get done are fairly extensive so they would be handing themselves in

Fair point, something similar happened with the protests in Bahrain.

Where have you got the figure of 200k deaths from? Are you mixing it up with the tsunami? Anywhere I've checked says between 20 and 30k killed in the Iran Quake

Just off the top of my head...

    The Haitian Earthquake.

    Brussels Airport Bombing.

    2004 Madrid Train Bombing.

    Liam Lawlor.

The 24/7 nature and relentless pace of news encourages us all to be forgettful.

Why would these still be in the news? We know everything that is to be known, there's nothing more they can report

Yeh but they have a point . There mightn't be anything new to report but its weird how you never hear about them again really, like for instance you could say the same about the Paris attacks but I always seem to hear news reports referring back to the paris attacks even today.

I mentioned those stories because they were just a few examples I could think of of stories that were massive for a while and then slowly faded from consciousness, or quickly in the case of the airport bombing.Which is story that isn't finished, by the way.

I'd imagine a lot of people on the street can't recall the Madrid bombing at all.

Haiti was an interesting one because it was massive global news for a while and then after some fundraising and reporting the country went back to its familiar state of relative obscurity again. I'm sure, if you were to ask a person from Haiti if the effects of the quake are all over and done with, they'd probably have an interesting answer for you.

There was endless reporting on Liam Lawler for a time in the Irish media. Then he died. And that was that. Even though I'm sure some of the same carry on is continuing.

I understand the distinction between past stories that have run their course ,and current stories that can't catch the media's attention any more, despite how they once appeared to be of paramount importance.
