Just been announced that Evens has thrown in the towel. https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2016/jul/04/chris-evans-quits-bbc-top-gear-after-one-series

A friend sent me a corresponding article from elsewhere which I don't have to hand saying that Joey refused to shoot any further series unless Evens was axed.

I have to say I feel sorry for Evans. I haven't watched the new series but Chris was always an alright bloke.

Police confirm sexual assault probe..This may have more to do with it than Joey not wanting to work with him.

Delighted. but also amazed that the BBC got it so wrong in hiring him in the first place for Top Gear.

How on earth can you fee sorry for him then?

Having watched all 6 episodes, he was the worst thing about it and his continued presence would have been the coffin nail for the show.

Since Nigel farrage has left ukip I wonder would he throw his name in for a co presenters job. Wouldn't be any worse than clarkson anyway

Good. Christ alive I dislike that man strongly.
People are entitled to hate Clarkson but how they can then turn around and like that sneaky, underhanded thing is beyond me.
At least with Clarkson you know where you stand because he'll tell you, however little you want to know.
With someone like Evans, you don't know until the knife has seperated two of yer vertebrae...

Hopefully they don't go lucking for another presenter when the show already has about 6. With the exception of Eddie Jordan any of the other guys would make a good co-host for Matt. I'm sure Matt would be able to conduct an interview and they could even change it up a bit and have two presenters interview the guests.

Chris Harris should be made main presenter.

I've always found him unlikeable. He manoeuvred himself on to The One Show when Adrian Chiles was there, and then he set his sights on the Top Gear job. He's like that guy who hangs out with you and your girlfriend and calls you a mate but you can't shake the feeling that if you ever broke up he'd be the first in there.

I'd love it if they brought back Quentin Wilson.

I'd love it if they brought back Quentin Wilson.

I know it'll never happen but I really liked the old Top Gear before it turned into the Clarkson show so I wish they'd bring it back. It was great when it actually told you about cars, reviewed them and talked about the wider motor industry. I found I watched the revamped format for a while but it got stale very quickly.

That being said, there are so many reviews of all types of cars now online but sometimes it's nice to kick back for 30 minutes or an hour and see some reviews of cars you wouldn't normally consider. In this regard Top Gear was great because the reviews were actually subjective rather than warmed over press releases like you got on other shows. RTE had a car sho back in the late 80's that fitted into the warmed over review mould but it was still pretty interesting.

Top Gear v1.0 had a bit of everything. Tiff Needell for racing, Clarkson and I can't remember who else for reviews (even back then I remember I thought Clarkson was a bit rubbish), Quentin for the second hand market. Great show.

If he's not already in there.

I cannot understand how people think Matt LePlank is good on top gear and get annoyed about Evans. Whatever you think of Evans he had energy whereas Leblanc is the worst host on TV I've seen. He reads everything and assumes an acting role. Dire !! The new top gear is brutal anyway, they should have re-invented it a bit more.

TFI Friday comeback has also been axed by Channel 4 and won't be recommissioned again.

Apparently, Channel 4 wanted to do more.. but Evans didn't.

Awful show. His son proves to be as annoying as him.

Yea, that's what I heard too. He felt he was just too old to do that kind of thing - while I actually thoroughly enjoyed the comeback, especially for the nostalgia factor, it did feel like he just wasn't suited anymore.
