With all the bad threads lately I thought a positive thread was due I'd probably not be sailing without boards I hope I've helped someone get into sailing die to boards I've given advice that changes lives dues to boards Boards makes a difference, thouflghts?

There's a thread in beauty that reviews all sorts of cosmetics. I love it and hate it in equal measure. It has me completely broke but I always check it before buying a product with a lot of hype behind it.
If I leave boards, that'll be literally the biggest thing I'll miss.

Learned quite a few things down the years that I'd never have known and had some great laughs too. Great way of passing far too much time in the last 10 years or so. Some great debates as well, might not agree with posters but often come away aware of reasons for another view.

There are plenty of good things.
First off the lovely genuine people I've met here that I now consider great friends.

I like the randomness off the place,
The support people give.
Most of my boards experience is positive.

Apart from a few killjoys and some attempts to treat adults like children, for the most part Boards is very positive. While some threads are constantly being rehashed and can descend into degrees of madness, a lot of threads are very thought-provoking and informative with probably some of the best minds of the country posting here. Some posters are also hilariously funny, gifted and crazy but just the right side of crazy.

I would imagine it's also a great way for Irish people living outside of Ireland to remain connected to the homeland and tap into the public sphere. Equally great for people experiencing difficulties to get support and to pay it forward on occasions where possible.

It's a nice break from several other forums I visit where a lot of people are annoying. Here I just tend to filter out the topics I don't have an interest. Other places it descends into "political moaning 101" and the mods are y'know, not completely terrible. Seriously, it's one of the reasons I kept coming back here over the past 12 years.

Overall its a grand place, takes getting used to, especially when you find out not everyone agrees with you, and make strong cases that your a fool :-) Its helped broaden my horizons and also its my main gossipy/news site.

The good things about boards are it's posters.

So many real gems of humans come here and post stuff that they would not tell their friends.
So many of the jokes/on liners on here that would have you in stitches laughing.
Santa strike force is something to be very proud of. It makes a difference.
And me, I am great for boards.

Yeah for all its flaws Boards tends to have at least a small diversity of views, most of Reddit for example is pure circle jerk.
Worried if that will continue though, to me people arguing with each other is good sign, it's when everybody agrees that there's an issue
