College Internships - When is it time to apply?

Hello everybody, I'm going into 3rd year of a degree in Computer Engineering and we will have to do an internship in February, I don't want to leave things to the last minute but at the same time it seems a bit early to start sending out CVs. When is it appropriate to start applying for internships? Thanks.
