He is clearly too ripped for mma there is a reason why nobody else looks like that in the ufc,its of no help.

Clearly it is if his arm is unbreakable! :pac:

I can see why he gets the push, My missus watched all Friday and Saturdays cards, her first time watching it, and her favorite fighter is now Super Sage!

Can't explain why he's built like that tho, as you said, no other MMA fighter has his figure, like a bodybuilder or something.

Plenty of fighters in the UFC carry more muscle than Sage. He isn't carrying an excessive amount really, how could he at LW.
He's 6 foot and walks around at maybe 80kg. That's not a lot of muscle in terms of effecting his cardio or movement.
You are confusing low body fat with high muscle mass.

He's carrying more muscle (and less fat) than a typical lightweight, sure. But an average middle weight is carrying a more muscle than him.

Yeah true his body fat must be very low percentage all year round, which takes serious diet and hard work in fairness to him,hes in body builder shape year round that cant be conducive to becoming a top fighter, while its better than being in Hendricks shape that shape hes in cant be nesscesary,as you say hes not got massive muscles but hes solid enough all that needs oxygen.

Have to say dont know if it was mentioned but that was a class moment between Aldo and Dede his coach after his win in the octagon.

He's definitely in bodybuilder single digit leanness territory all year round, but not BB size.
Muscle is muscle. Say he's 8%bf, he'd be carrying similar muscle as a soft WW at 15%bf, but less than any of the WW's in decent condition. If they can cope with the oxygen demands of their muscle, then so can he given he's been carrying it around for years now.

You are right about super leanness not being conducive to training/performance though. Even in pure strength/power sports like weightlifting, performance seams to be optimal around 10-12%. They are physically weaker when leaner than that, despite having more muscle mass for a given weight. That's weightlifters don't look like bodybuilders.
Recovery would also be impacted. I wouldn't be surprised if Sage's (or his Dad's) aversion to hard training is down to their super lean condition resulting in sub-par recovery.

I'm also assuming that the super lean condition is influenced by his dad's bodybuilder background.

Prelims were great, found some of the main card fights a bit underwhelming.

Frankie is in a bad spot, Aldo didn't even look that fussed. Still reckon Conor beats Aldo again though.

Very impressed by Brock considering the opposition and time away. Pity about his age and other commitments.

I'm not saying he'll be a world champ or even reach Rorys level. Rory doing what he did at 20 is abnormal. I'm saying he has time to improve and could be a top 10 guy given time.

He absolutely could improve. If he just turns up and trains at Tristar, and listens to Firas everyday there's literal no way he won't get better.

But letting his bodybuilder dad run the show. It's not going to help.

Not that anybody said otherwise but Aldo confirmed himself as the best TD defence in mma the weekend again just incredible how he does it

Yeah I agree completely. Why you would pull a guy from a gym with the likes of GSP, Condit and Rory I'll never know. I like the kid to be honest. Bit of a "deer in headlights" look to him but seems like a likeable enough guy.

His TD punch to the head defence is not the best though.

Ah, implying I'm an idiot, nice.

I don't brown nose McGregor, it's just that in a sea of hate someone not also having a go at him is seen that way by the naysayers. Which is a shame, as I don't see positive comments about any other fighter being met with anything near the same level of vitriol. Look at the immediate reaction saying the slightest negative thing about Aldo has received in comparison.

As for not appreciating Aldo's TD game: I used the word 'though' and so quite clearly I was agreeing that his TDD is otherwise excellent. Was exceptional against Edgar in fact. Just pointing out that in that one area he showed he has a weakness but sure he has lots of time to work on it before the now inevitable rematch.

Anyone know what the story is with Cormier's pay for 200? Dana says in the following clip (at the 2 minute mark) that he would make the same pay no matter who he went on to fight:

But yet in this article they say Cormier only got half what he would have had he fought Jones.

    Probably, due to Pay-per-view figures?
And, not being the headline fight?
    I think he got 500,000...

Dana and Bros don't throw their money away! They're tight men!!!! Only just made a few billion!

TJ really missed the boat not negotiating a new deal after he won the title.

I woulda thought with Ludwig being his main trainer he would have dropped him a few hints on how to maximize income :D

UFC 200 was a very interesting spectacle and was eye opening for anyone interested in the realms of animalistic movement. Brock Lesnar channelled his inner beast and you could see from how he carried himself that he was in full animalistic mode. His spine curvature throughout the fight resembled that of a Gorilla who is about to attack its challengers. I was overwhelmed by the display and shed a few tears at the unnerving beauty of seeing a humanoid mirror the king of the jungle so fittingly. Lesnar was a gorilla in the upper torso and a ballerina in the lower torso. He bounced on his feet in a manner that any Russian ballet dancer would have been proud of and towards the end of the fight I couldn't help but do a twirl in my eco-friendly living space such was the emotion that overpowered me.

Would he not be still on the tuf contract?

They are notoriously badly paid and long duration. apparently one of the reasons joanna champion skipped going on it herself.

Im not a naysayer by any means, I like to call things as they are and if McGregor acts like a dick ill say it, whereas if he murdered 50 people like likes of you would still defend him.

Looks like it was done on a rolling basis as champion, he was 50/50 for the Soto fight, 60/60 for Barao 2 & 70/70 for the Cruz fight, doesnt seem like smart negotiating to be honest considering he demolished Barao twice, now hes back on breadline money.
