He wasn't fighting so why spend much time talking about him? They talked about him enough, showed him on camera a few times and interviewed Nate about the fight. There's more to MMA than McGregor like

Well Eubank had a fighter's knowledge but not coaching knowledge to offer. Think thats why junior has been through a few different coaches because they all get pushed to the side when it matters. Very few top boxers, well other sports too, do the top people go onto make good coaches.

The sooner Sage listens to the advice and gets rid of daddy he could move onto the next level. So far from what I've seen he's not progressing much

Sage was so lucky to survive that arm bar, let alone to scrape the decision.

There was an awful lot more to that escape than luck in fairness.

Marin has a pretty decent submission skillset and he was one of the favourites when he was on TUF. He's probably getting cut after this loss but he's no slouch in fairness.

I thought he was asking to be tapped,he was lying still for a moment basically saying take the arm,I know you bate people in and then twist your tumb to escape but Marin was cranking on it for a few seconds and just cudnt find a point to break it,I wasnt blown away by either of them thought the grapple was very very average.

tbh i thought he was fantastic with the sub escapes, especially with all the quick tapper nonsense from his last fight, that armbar was locked tight and marin had a kimura all but locked up at least twice in that fight

Im sorry but there was no fantastic grappling on display in that fight.

Inability to execute an arm-bar on a static opponent was laughable.

Edgar using pool noodles is the only legit reason for losing imo,ido effect.

Was there no FOTN awarded at all last night?

Gotta feel sorry for Jim Millar not getting a bonus. Out of all 5 finishes his was the 2nd quickest but he was the only 1 of the 5 not to pick up the bonus.

No mention of them anyway. Maybe payouts were just bigger across the card to compensate?

Apparently not. Dana was asked during the presser a few days ago because UFC100 for example had 100k bonus' and he said there would be no change this time and the fighters were being paid enough.

Just seems very unfair they give bonus to only 4 out of 5 fighters to finish, especially if they've not gave fotn bonus out.

They are discretionary bonuses. Fighters paid enough? I doubt it, outside of brock.

Why no FOTN bonus, just no fight worthy of it? It is a pity we didn't get at least one war.

Finally saw the fights, had a heavy one last night and missed the whole thing. Managed to avoid spoilers though thank god.

Might've been more exciting if I watched them live but I definitely felt like I didn't miss much. The so-called "biggest event in UFC history" wouldn't get anywhere near my top 10.

One more thing, Brock Lesnar get in you absolute animal! :D Did not expect him to look as sharp as he did, never gave Hunt as much as a look at his chin, his wrestling masterclass was also fantastic to watch.

Same as above, busy all day and watched a fight whenever I got a free 30 minutes. Real anti-climax after all said and done. Miesha bottled it, Brock hunt was meh, Silva might just be pregnant after that fight, cain brown was meh.

Aldo Frankie was a great fight, just sickened for Edgar that he couldn't get it done. Aldo shut him down. I still don't think he'll win a conor rematch but should last a few more rounds. Wonder if they'll still get NY main event.

Following his victory, Aldo stared down at the Irishman, repeating the words "you're next".

"Frankie's a great competitor," Aldo said. "But I have one goal and it's to beat this guy (pointing at McGregor) and I will beat him."

There was apparently a discrepancy with the Brazilian translator, who used the word "guy", when Aldo actually described McGregor as a "piece of s***".

If ever there is a fight was driven by personal hatred and vengeance, it will be McGregor v Aldo 2.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 219 ✭✭JinkyJackson

Yeah I always thought Aldo says a lot more interesting stuff than the translated tells us. He could go on a 5 minute rant with really angry facial expressions, then the translated says 1 harmless sentence back
