Reclaiming tax on UK pension

I have an elderly relative who came back from the UK approx 4 years ago and has her deceased husbands pension being payed from Newcastle.

She has been told by UK people living in Ireland that she can claim back the tax she paid on this without any implications from the Irish revenue and then continue paying the tax on it to the irish revenue from there on in but has until August to do this.

Two accountants have given her conflicting scenarios on this and I am trying to encourage her to phone the Irish revenue to get a definitive answer on this which she is a little reluctant to do.

Anyone got any experience in this and could she get a definitive answer from the Irish revenue by phoning them.

Is she declaring it to the Irish Revenue?

If she is not resident in the UK then she could apply to have it paid without tax and then pay tax on it in Ireland.

Not sure if Revenue would advise.

    Thanks for the reply.

She is still paying tax on it to the British revenue.

Her head has been turned by some English residents who live in her area telling her that they have registered to pay the tax on their English pension in Ireland and got a rebate for the last 4 years from Britain and that she could keep all or part of this???

She is not resident in the UK anymore, are you saying that she could maybe claim it all from the UK and have a self assessment for the Irish revenue at the end of each year, could there be deductibles that there would be savings on?
