Sorry for sounding like a real newbie but I haven't a clue about anything tv related. I got an LG tv ( 22MN43D ) in my bedroom and I wanted to get stations on it. I used to have stations on my old tv but that doesnt work anymore :( . I got a virgin box downstairs and I don't have aerial. The tv is supposed to be freeview approved or something. Any advice? Cheers :)

An aerial will be required to receive the Saorview channels

You could test out a cheap indoor aerial in the bedroom or maybe better in the attic for the height, an indoor aerial similar to this - http://cpc.farnell.com/maxview/truvision-indoor-aer/truvision-indoor-aerial/dp/AP00481

Freeview is the UK terrestrial TV service via an aerial, equivalent to our Saorview, if you're within the coverage area of a Freeview transmitter in NI or Wales.

That TV model, 22MN43D, doesn't appear to be Saorview approved, where did you buy it? That TV model is over 3 years old and now discontinued, not sure how it'll work with Saorview.

You could test out that aerial you linked to in Argos, if either TV or aerial doesn't work out you can easily return the aerial to them.

From what I have picked on the internet, the TV you are using does not have a Freeview HD tuner in it so it will almost certainly not pick up Saorview channels by itself. It is HD ready only which means it needs connected to external source to transmit HD pictures/Saorview. If you purchased a Saorview box and connected it to this TV you should get Saorview channels as long as you have an aerial with a reasonable signal. BTW all aerials indoor or outdoor are designed to receive Freeview/Saorview channels as long as the signals are strong enough and within the band of the aerial. All indoor aerials are wideband (receive signals from across the spectrum) while outdoor aerials can be grouped or wideband. I would tend to try a cheap indoor aerial first and you can easily return it if you're not getting any channels.

Your TV is fine for picking up Saorview as it has the requisite tuner.

You'll need an aerial connected to the back of it.

On what basis do you say this? This link here makes it clear that this TV does not receive Freeview HD stations - http://www.richersounds.com/printproduct/LG-22MN43D Surely without such an internal tuner it cannot receive Saorview can it?

The ability to receive Freeview HD is not the requirement to receive Saorview, it is just that Freeview HD also covers the Saorview requirements, which are DVB-T HD with an MPEG 4 decoder. Most modern sets do this. LG sets have had this ability for well over three years.

No one can tell you as we don't know what the signal is like where you are. Once again Argos are lying, there is no way a simple loop has 20dB gain. More likely -1dB. In fact even the largest outdoor aerials only manage around 17dB gain.

BUT, if you can get a signal indoors that may suffice, as would a much cheaper one from a Euro shop.

Is there not like a saorview box or something I could get? I got it in PC world.

Ah ok do you know where I could get a saorview box? PC world don't have any and they told me to get an android box instead, but I didn't :P . I'd say I should get that aerial and the box so?

    Just the aerial?

See Post 8 (in reply to my earlier post that your TV could not receive saorview by itself) where it is clearly stated that your LG TV in fact does receive Saorview. If this is the case (and I can only assume it is correct despite my earlier assertion) then you do not require a Saorview box but a decent aerial to pick up signals from nearest transmitter.
