Mk5 Golf central locking

Hi all,

Thanks in advance for the help.

So my VW MK 5 Golf wont lock or unlock with the button on the key, all doors will lock and unlock when i put the key in the drivers door.
tried recoding the key and the car flashes to say it was successful but still wont work. vag-coms says there is an error with the central locking.

is the module in the drivers door broken and need to be fixed/replaced or does it need to be replaced on all doors, or is there another problem?

Is there a spare fob? Does that work?
Did you change fob battery ever?

No dont have a spare fob. When i press the fob the light on the fob blinks, and when i recoded the fob with the car it worked so thats why i thought the fob isnt the problem

Is it all doors? I had a problem on my A5, where the drivers door wouldn't open with the fob. But would work with the key. I think the solenoid or something in the lock was f**ked. I replaced the lock mechanism and problem solved. If it's both doors that won't be your problem though.

No i don't hear anything at all from the car when i press the fob.

its a 3 door and yes none of the doors will lock/unlock from the fob, but if i lock the drivers side by turning the key all doors will lock/unlock.

Exact same thing is happening with mine.
