Airnet wireless broadband

    Hi all

Picked up a flyer in a shop in Ferns (Co. Wexford) for an operation called Airnet Wireless Broadband, offering speeds up to 15 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload for €35 per month.

Those speeds would be a massive improvement on what I currently get, and we're not expecting fibre here for at least another two to three years.

However, the flyer lists a web address www.airnet.ie, but there's nothing there.

Does anybody know anything about them, or how reliable they might actually be?

Could this be why? Looks like company applied this year to be dissolved

    Well, that doesn't look good!

Things get curiouser and curiouser, though. By pure coincidence, a salesperson for Airnet called to the door last night. I wasn't home at the time, but my wife was speaking to her all right, and she left a card with two numbers on it - her own, and a technician's name & number. I recognise the name as a lad from near here whose family business is CCTV, Saorview/satellite TV installations, and all that sort of thing. Think I'll give him a shout and see where we go from there.

Nice one, let us know how it goes

    From a CRO search this morning;

    Airnet Broadband Limited is Dissolved.

Airnet is a Business name of Ferns Communication Limited who were incorporated in July 2015.

The companies don't appear to have similar Directors and they are listed at two different addresses so I doubt they are connected.

Looked at Airnet.ie and Seems like Blacknight are hosting it.

I suspect it's a new start up about to go live.

Just ring them and see what they are offering.

Thanks. Rang them yesterday, and they're to send somebody out to us sometime this week. We'll see how it goes.

Hi there. Am expecting somebody to call out this afternoon, so I should know more then about whether it'll work for me or not.

In the meantime, have heard many good things about them from others around the Ferns area, where I live myself, with people genuinely getting the 15Mbps download speeds promised. Seems you need a line of sight to the transmitter mast on Sliabh Bhui though, so don't know where you are, and don't know if it'll work for me either on account of a number of trees in the way.

Might work here if a receiver goes up on the chimney, but I'm going to leave that to yer man to check, instead of trying to get up there myself. Can't stand heights!

Anyway, if it's any use to you, their Facebook is at https://www.facebook.com/airnetbroadband16/

Their leaflets say they've a website at www.airnet.ie, but there's nothing actually there.

They seem to have launched the website in the last few weeks. There's a little bit of info there now. Let me know how you get on! I'm in the same situation. Near Boolavogue but trees are a bit of an obstruction. Would you mind asking him is it possible to put the antenna a bit away from the house say 20m and run a cable into the house or would that not work? Thanks.

    Hi there

Got this installed this afternoon in the end - there was enough of a gap through the trees! - and am delighted with it. It's delivering the full 15Mbps download and 2Mbps upload promised, which is a massive difference to the 2.5 download I was getting with Eircom (and that was on a good day).

Didn't see your message in time to ask about the chances of running a 20 metre cable, but I see no reason they wouldn't do it if you were happy to do it that way.

It's worth giving them a call anyway.

How long does it take for them to get back to you? I rang a few weeks ago and they said to email them at info@airnet.ie. I haven't heard anything back.

Hi again. Sorry so long in answering - haven't been on boards in the meantime. Did you get sorted in the end?

Took them a few weeks to get to me too (either 3 or 4, can't remember) when I first rang, but all is going fine since. Had a small issue at one stage about two weeks after installation and there was somebody here within 90 minutes of me phoning up about it.

Nope still nothing. Good to know they're sitting fault out quick though thanks.
