I put up a new three bay closed in shed three years ago, for machinery and have a dry pen for ten weanlings I house for a few months in winter, would they cause this corrosion on the outside off the tin, under the paint and it's turning white, it's only on one side off shed opposite cattle pen, I can't load photos off it for some reason.

    Condensation?
What is the ventilation like in the shed?

Ventilation wouldn't be the greatest so I tend to leave back door open and half off Front, just afraid it's cattle causing it wouldn't house them in it if they are.

Have you got ventilation under the roof/top of the walls that allows a through flow of air.

Would only have holes for vents in wall around the pen, no wouldn't smell piss when I walk in but there is bound to be some evaporation alright from the bedding, that would affect the outside off the tin tho?

are the sheets down on treated timbers? with no felt in between, whatever reaction between cattle treated timber and sheeting it starts to rot the sheets, hence the reason all grant aided sheds have dpc between.

Massey from your first post you seem to suggest that the corrosin is on the outside of the sheeting. I supect that quality of the sheeting is the issue. turning white sounds like electrolysis. this is a reaction between two metals caused by an electrical chemical reaction. It is what makes battery's work. Is there any other metal material present. Did the sheeting comre in contact with acid/alkali before or after erecting.

no where the corrosion is, the tin is on galv steel purlins.

Bass reeves yes the corrosion is on outside off tin coming thru the paint from the gutter down, only on the sheltered side off the shed, shed was erected by a suppler/manufacturer so I cant say has it been I contact with what you mentioned. got a picture uploaded which will explain it better.

Do you know were he sourced the sheeting from? I did hear a couple of years ago a cowboy supplier was selling sheeting that wasnt what it said on the tin. We said at the time there would be trouble in a few years

Yeah I know were he bought the tin, if I show him it am sure he will blame the housing off the cattle for causing it, but it shouldn't effect the out side off the tin would it.

The cattle should not cause corrosion on out side
Saying that u need to open vent in top eg raise sheets or space some of them
Is there a quality stamp on sheet if not it is dirt

Quality stamp stands for nothing with some of the suppliers. Don't know what come back there could be as the guy I know is gone out of business

This should not be the issue after two years. I really be getting onto the supplier/erector and be putting pressure on him over it. Two years even for sheeting that is not stamped is very short time for a corrosin issue. As well seeing as how corrosion is on the outside I suspect an issue with the sheeting
