I've been tasked with advising my mother in law on what wireless controlled boiler timer to get. Struggling to advise one that meets her requirements. Getting conflicting advise from professional and online so would really appreciate some advice.

    Boiler:
    Gas boiler, 'ideal s24'

    Current controller:
    It's a 'trac tp20'
    It allows the following
    - both cylinder and rads
    - only cylinder (not possible for only rads)

    Thermostat / zones:
It's a semi d house and I'm fairly sure there are no zones / thermostats in the rooms. She also does not need this feature.

    Requirements
    - All she wants is a wireless module similar to what she wants (have option for 1. Both cylinder and rads and 2. Just cylinder).
    - Controlled via both the module itself and wirelessly via an app
    - Zones / remote thermostats etc while a nice bonus are not required.
    - Wants to buy outright so no ongoing fees.

Any advice? Seems like nest is overcomplicated for her needs (she does not need a smart / learning device, purely a wifi module that allows the option of both rads and cylinder and the cylinder on its own).

Appreciate this question has been asked multiple times but after searching and reading multiple posts I'm non the wiser.

2 of these or similar devices
    www.ebay.co.uk/itm/91341831463/
And an electrician to wire them in parallel with your right hand switches and you're good to go.
It'll require an enclosure mounted to the RHS of the existing switches, if he's worth his salt he will do a tidy / compact job.

    Look at climote
If you sign up to airtricity for I think 18 or 24 months they will supply and fit one free of charge

You'll still end up paying full price or more for Climote through higher than normal energy charges if you do that and you also have the ongoing running costs and / or the risk that they will terminate the service as has happened with previous similar companies.

Thanks for all the replies, leaning towards the hive, seeing as it's designed for Britishgas I would expect it be that bit more compatable within Irish houses and climate than a US system like nest.

€299 all in including fitting from bord gais seems reasonable too or £180 on Amazon (excluding installation)

To close this out, I went ahead and bought a hive mk2 for £170 on Amazon with self install option.

Received the package last week and once opened my initial impressions were very good (quality and appearance). Before installing I tried to register the product (using unique Id key) online(in order to use the app) but ran into problems so called British Gas who informed me they don't register Irish customers and I have to return the hive and repurchase through bord gais

Really impressed with Amazon who provided me with a prepaid label so all I had to do is drop the box to a post office and a full refund. All this even though I opened the box and scratched off the unique id key

My mother in law is not going to reorder from bord gais, they don't sell the product on its own, only with installation which they charged €100 for the privilege. The product is very easy to fit (seriously a 10min job for anyone with a bit of wiring capabilities) so she can't justify paying the extra €100 (€300 in total) and probably be messed around waiting for them to call and fit

So back to square 1 where a nest is looking like the only option.
